SOURCE: i need to know how to take aport a marlin 336
Your best bet is to buy a book that gives you the step by step actions to doing this project. I just recently did the same thing with the same weapon.
Refinished the stock, replaced some parts, etc. The best book Ive found and used on multiple Firearm tear downs and reassemblies is "The Official NRA Guide to Firearms Assembly Two Volume Set". Comes with a book for Handguns/Revolvers and a book for Shotguns/Rifles.
You can get it HERE
And it will run ya about $45 for the set. Hope this helps.

Hi Shane.
Referring to this resource site,
Marlin Serial Numbers Dates Of Manufacture
the single 'K' at the start indicates your piece was manufactures in 1953 - almost old enough for Social Security now :-)
Cheers
