The Hobbylock 603A uses a DCx1 sewing machine needle. The needle thickness depends on your thread and fabric choice. #11 (75) needles are the standard needle. The machine can be used with any needle between (and including) a #9 and a #16. These are standard sewing machine needles with a groove that faces the thread and a flat back. One source of the needles in various sizes is https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/serger-needles-schmetz-dcx1-5pk.aspx . There are many other sources.
The needle size is given in manual in the specifications for the serger. See page 16 (page 20 of the PDF). The manual is available here: http://www.pfaff.com/SiteMedia/PFAFF/Products/Machines/Support-manuals/Hobbylock_603A-manual-EN.PDF . This link is available from the Pfaff Machine Support page: http://www.pfaff.com/en-US/Support-and-Updates/Support . Look for the model in the drop-down menu (alphabetical order). The Hobbylock 603A support page is http://www.pfaff.com/en-US/Support/3345 .
I hope this helps.

If the needle bar is no longer available, the current needle bar can be repaired by cutting new threads in it and changing the screw. Not simple but not rocket science either. Most mechanics can do this.

The needles are changed by inserted the hex wrench into what looks to be holes on the front and left side where the needles go into the machine.I'm not sure what size the hex wrench is but it's pretty small. From the manual,
"Removing Needle: Unplug the machine. Turn the handwheel
counterclockwise to raise the needle bar to its highest position.
Loosen the needle clamp with the allen wrench and pull the needle out."
and
"Inserting needle: When the neddle bar is at the highest position, insert a new needle in the needle holder, making sure that the groove of the needle faces you. Push the needle as far up as it will go and tighten the needle clamp screw." "Removing Needle: Unplug the machine. Turn the handwheel counterclockwise to raise the needle bar to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp with the allen wrench and pull the needle out."
The machine takes DB x 1, or 1738 needles, and a size 14 needle is recommended.
Hope this helps!
