The problem is vertical failure. Vertical output section to your TV ahs the fault. You ahve to check the vertcial output circuit for any component failure or loose solderings.
sounds like an intermittent problem. it could be a cold solder and it needs to be resolder it at the VERTICAL IC or transistor section , if your good with tools , you can do it yourself , otherwise take TV to a nearest repair shop, hope this helps , AJ
If your screen has a picture in the left corner with a small square with lines on it but still has sound...try this....
unplug your TV itself from the power source, then hold down the power button on the tv itself for 1 minute, then release.... Plug the tv back in and see if the issue is resolved. I just called LG customer support and a woman walked me through this process and it fixed the issue !!!! Hope this helps..
the lamp in the projector might have went. try replaceing it. to do so try

problem is going to defective optical engine $920.00 for repair sounds about right if not cheap. the parts cost is most of that price. check sony website or call and see if they will pay the repair cost for you.
