Hey there,

Disregard the previous users response, as they’re speaking out of their depth it seems. For starters you should remove the rear panel of the television, exposing the picture board and power board, you can tell the difference because the power board is where the power cord plugs in and the picture board will have HDMI ports, composite ports and various other connections. On the affected board, likely the power board, there will be a serial number identifying it. Type this number into eBay and you can find refurbished replacements. You can normally fix you television for $100 or under. Best of luck to you.

SOURCE: LG 42LG5 TURN ON TV PICTURE GOES BLACK

This could be 1 of a few things here. Without opening up your set and trying to look at voltages or indiciator lights I couldn't tell you exactly without some more info.

Without looking at it myself here are my thoughts and where I would first look at.

It may be a main board because:
1) Main board processes all your audio/video signals. Bad main board means bad video processing. Could do that. Especially if the main board is not sending the right signal or a bad signal to the rest of the boards so they don't do their jobs.

It may be a power supply because:
1) Power supply is well, the power supply. If it's sending inadaquete voltage to the main board you may not be recieving enough juice to keep that main board doing your video processing or further up the line keeping enough juice flowing to your TCon board to keep it telling things where to go and what to do. The power supply sends voltages to your Ballast board(controls your lights) and to your main board through which power is supplied to your TCon board via a LVDS line and a +12/+16V signals. If the power supply isn't pumping out enough juice to keep the TCon or Main Board running, it could be a problem. By the same token it could be that your P/S isn't sending power out to your ballast board.

It could be a TCon because:
1) If the TCon is bad, you won't get your pictures. This could be the TCon board itself or the LVDS cable from your TCon to your Main. However, with few exceptions, if it's a bad TCon you're looking at a total panel replacement.

It could be a ballast board because:
1) The Ballast Board controls the lighting behind the LCD screen. If this isn't working right you won't be seeing much of anything without that back lighting. If this is bad, it's a panel replacement. These are not field replaceable items by LG.

Based on the symptoms, without more data or a eyes-on view of it, I would say you're most likely looking at a Main Brd or PSU problem.

SOURCE: Sony KV-32S42 (See Description)

It may be a fruitless effort. The main reason this occurs is that the Picture Tube is drawing too much current and the AKB circuit will not let the video circuit diplay the picture. Outside
of replacing the Picture Tube there is no fix.
You can varify this by turning the screen control up. This is usaully located on the HV transformer and is marked. the other location it may be is on the CRT board. It also would be clearly marked. If you adjust this slightly and the picture appears, the Picture Tube is the problem. I'm betting 100% it's the Tube.
Hope this helps,

I have a LG 70LB7100 TV and when I turn it on the screen turns on fully for 2 seconds then it goes just to backlight for 4 seconds then turns off. What do you think is the problem

Walter,

Strictly from what I'm reading it sounds to me that your PCB has failed, or is failing. You will need to either;

1) Find your specific PCB (There will be a model number on the board itself) and order a replacement online, then install it on your own.

2) If you are not comfortable repairing it on your own, contact a local electronic repair shop and describe the problem as you've described it here and they will be able to further assist you.

Attached you will find an image of a common PCB layout.

Hope this helps,
Best regards.

My LG 50pk590 plasma tv turns its self off as soon as I turn it on. I've tried turning it off and back on by the mains but still nothing. Please help

Same thing happened to mine and some guys came to look at it, turns out the main board had to be replaced, they say it went because the dust was blocking the cooling fans. I think mine is more modern as when ot went off the power light flashed 8 times, which was a code for what was wrong. See if yours flashes anywhere and look it up.

My lg tv screen is black and wont turn on

Going to be a economic decision---not likely to be a do it yourself repair--consider taking to a shop for a estimate.

You might want to Google the model number with "parts" to see what boards are available and at what cost.

LG 50PK750 turns off as soon as I turn on

This issue is a common, but hardly talked about from LG. Your tv is probably 1 or 2 months out of warranty, and now you're hearing a series of clicks. ... If you have the courage to open the back cover of your tv, and you do "NOT" see any bad (bulging ) capacitors on the power supply, then it could be the voltage regulator. After weeks of fighting with LG to replace my tv, i decided to fix it myself. i'm proud to announce that my 50PK540 is now working. want proof? Take a look at the video i posted on youtube, then you will have a better understand why your tv is clicking... I'm also selling the repair kit for this power supply board on ebay now. LG power supply Board model number EAY60968801. With anyone of these PCB # EAX61392501/7, EAX61392501/10, EAX61392501/11, or EAX61392501/12 with the parts if this kit, I've also fis several 50PK750 models, Some clients have send me their broken power supply board, so I can do the repairs. Please Make sure that you've already gone through the process of troubleshooting and testing your tv's power supply board before making any purchases.. I recommend that you get a tv tech to check it out, because every tv is different. Email at [email protected] if you have any questions.and watch the video: part 1 & 2

While watching tv it suddenly cut off,now it is making a clicking sound and will not turn back on

If you remove the back you will find a couple of electrolytic caps that need replace, and/or just replace the power supply. That should take care of your problem.
