Or maybe you just added to what was stuck on there.

Use a good ceramic cooktop cleaner or a water/vinegar mix AND a razor blade scraper.

I have found that the only way to get EVERYTHING off the cooktop is to use the razorblade scraper. You may not be able to see it or even feel it with your fingers but there is burnt stuff on there and it takes some work to get it off.

SOURCE: I used kitchenaid cooktop cleaner

make sure you are using the cleaner properly.
best way is to put it on like you would wax a car.
put on a heavy coating of cleaner and then let it dry, once it is fully dry, then use a wet towel and wipe it off, then dry with another towel and polish it to a shine. this should allow the stain to be absorbed into the cleaner and then will leave a "wax" on the surface to help prevent any future stains from happening.
if this doesnt work, then put on more cleaner and lay a wet paper towel over the stained area and cleaner. this will allow the cleaner to dry slower and should help to remove any stains.
by the way not all stains will come off the first or second cleaning.
just keep trying and the stain will come off. and if you get a spill again, wipe it off as soon as you can, even if the glass top is hot, it will help.

SOURCE: There are burnt on grease

Use the razor push only in one direction this will remove the stain. Ceran is a very resiliant material and you will not scratch it but if you leave gunk on the burner and repeatedly cook on it the stain will become permanant and you also risk pitting the glass. Pitting is pock marks in the glass that are permanant. Pitting is most commonly produced when starch or sugars are left on a burner but is possible with other spills. Good Luck.

SOURCE: Cleaning Thermador Cooktop?

To clean the stainless around the star burners try applying Easy-Off oven cleaner around the stars with a Q-tip (spray the cleaner onto the stainless surface first because it's very hard to control the spray output). The cleaner will make your stainless sparkle and the Q-tips allow you to get close enough while controlling the application. Scrub gently with the Q-tip and the stains will disappear within minutes. Wash thoroughly with a wet cloth. I've used this on my older model Thermador stainless cooktop for 5 years.

How do I clean my new electric Jenn-air cooktop with its glass top? Do I need a special cleaner for the glass?

  • Step 1 Wipe up spills as soon as they happen with a clean dry towel. According to the Jenn-Air website, for glass top cooking surfaces, you should do this even if it is hot since it will be harder to clean up later. Be careful not to get burned.
  • Step 2 Use a cooktop cleaner once it is cool. You can also use dishwashing detergent and water or just a baking soda paste (made with water).
  • Step 3 Apply the cleaner to a sponge, cloth or paper towel. For more stubborn stains, you can use a non-abrasive or "scratchless" pad.
  • Step 4 Rub the soiled areas until clean. Rinse well, especially if you used the baking soda paste as that can leave a residue.
  • Step 5 Use a razor blade for burned on and crusty stains that will not come off using the previous methods. Jenn-Air states to hold it at a 30-degree angle to carefully remove the stain.

Cant get food stains removed from top of stove i use a special cleaner and a special scrub and it still doesnt come off. it can be any kind of stain. the new stove tops are very hard to clean. any help...

I recommend a product called of all things "barkeepers friend". It comes in a can with holes in the top to sprinkle the powder out of.

Moisten the stubborn area and sprinkle this product on the stain then add enough water to make a paste. Make sure the paste covers the entire stain. LET IT SIT FOR AT LEAST TEN MINUTES. Then rub with a wet cloth. It always works for me and I have a black stove.

    Stained gas range burner grates

Hey y'all. I have the same lame GE profile gas cooktop with the gray grates and burner covers. I know this is the expensive way to go, but I use Easy-Off "self-cleaning oven" oven cleaning spray. For about $5, you get 3 cleanings. It is a pain to do, but I have better things to do than scrub these grates all the time. I don't know why, but the baked on crud just drives me crazy. I tried everything to clean them completely. I even tried to scrub the darn things with a kitchen pumice stone(sold at walmart)but it is impossible to get the curvy areas clean. Now the paint has started to wear off on the burner covers.

I do not use the oven cleaner on the cooktop itself. I use soft-scrub with baking soda, then cover the cooktop with a sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil and cut out holes for the burners. This keeps most of the spills contained, and helps with cleanup.

I visited to the GE parts web page, and they only sell gray grates and covers. I am going to buy black BBQ grill paint(spray can)from Home Depot and try it on the burner covers first. They are the least expensive to replace if it fails, and if it works, I will paint the grates with this high temperature paint. I will keep you posted on the results.

    Regards,
