Software has to be updated using Canon Support Tool, via the USB port and System Software Version 60.02 or higher CD. There is also an outside chance that the Boot ROM chip is bad or just need to be reseatted (with power off of course). Good luck, let us know how you made out.

yes there is a way to turnoff the power save feature.The answer is in the manual.
Using the round navigation "button" its blue scroll down to key operator hit enter and key in all oooooo zeros.
hit enter scroll down again to energy saving and hit enter set all the minuteds up to the maximum of 240 thats 4 hours of non power saving running time, if you make a copy during that period it will wait another 4 hours to go to sleep.
the reason it misfeeds so much is that you probably lost the green stopper at the bottom of the paper pile, also the side things as well as the metal corners have to cover the corners of the paper at a 45 degree angle , because thats what seperates the sheets.
I service over 300 of these and they can be very reliable if the guy fixing them knows what to do.
