If the spring did not damage the carriage flex I would suggest just using some epoxy to hold the spring properly in place. If the spring did damage the flex (as shown in this picture) then you might contact HP and enquire about an extended warranty for this issue. In the US call HP at 1-800-HPINVENt.

You have to remove the formatter metal cage first by releasing black tabs then you can reach the snap tabs, be careful with on/off switch lever, Are you replacing cartridge locks?

The problem is the locking arms on the right side of the machine are probably broken. HP has a tech bulletin out on this issue and they have a kit with updated parts to repair it. It is a very common problem.

I have the same problem, I can fix the wire in place, but there is a second problem, the wire poked a small hole through the thin plastic circuit membrain at the back, so even taping the wire in place no longer fixes the problem.
