I have a HP 3600n. On the right side when the cartridges seat there is a small tab that is surrounded by a wire that has broken off. Can this be repaired? How long should it take?

If the spring did not damage the carriage flex I would suggest just using some epoxy to hold the spring properly in place. If the spring did damage the flex (as shown in this picture) then you might contact HP and enquire about an extended warranty for this issue. In the US call HP at 1-800-HPINVENt.

You have to remove the formatter metal cage first by releasing black tabs then you can reach the snap tabs, be careful with on/off switch lever, Are you replacing cartridge locks?

SOURCE: hp 3600n getting error msg that cartridges not engaged

The problem is the locking arms on the right side of the machine are probably broken. HP has a tech bulletin out on this issue and they have a kit with updated parts to repair it. It is a very common problem.

SOURCE: x-spring tab broken in ink receptacle (HP officejet 7310)

I have the same problem, I can fix the wire in place, but there is a second problem, the wire poked a small hole through the thin plastic circuit membrain at the back, so even taping the wire in place no longer fixes the problem.

Hey, I am really at my last wits with this printer.I have a color LJ 3600N. I received the 10.92.00 error. So i replaced the left and right lever lock. After the repair it worked for like half hour.

You replaced the lever locks but did you replace the actual cartridge locks. Chances are either the left or right cartridge lock for the black toner cartridge has broken. Remove the toner cartridge and then lift the transfer belt to the closed position. You should see a lever drop on both left and right side. If the are missing or broken you will need to replace them.

Door closes with no cartridges but will not with cartridges. looks fine, worked fine before putting in new cartridges for the 1st time. hp color lasorjet 3600n

Did you make sure the cartridges clicks in place? There are while plastic locks on each cartridge and hopefully they are not broken. Not expensive to purchase but major teardown to replace.

Cartridges will not engage

Check on the left hand side where the cartridge slides in there is a small swivelling retaining triangle of plastic that is lifted up by a thin plastic rod (hidden) when the front door is opened. if this triangle becomes detached from the hidden operating rod then that cartridge will not lock in. the problem appears to be on the right side but it is this left triangle causing the problem.

simply locate the small plastic triangle and attach a 6 inch piece of scellotape to the triangle so you lift it up to allow the cartridge to slide and lock in place. then give the scellotape a sharp tug and it will come free and the small locking triangle will drop down in place and the cartridge is locked.

Yes,

Go to Computer, then System Properties, The Device Manager. Down the list of devices you will see "Imaging Devices". Open the category and dowble click on your printer. Go to the Driver tab, open and,

Marcus choose.."Rool Back Driver" and follow the instructions.

check the locking tabs on the cartridge, sounds like they are not locking down the cartridge.
