If it’s a washing machine, it takes a special spanner wrench and a hammer to break it loose

SOURCE: tube retaining nut on egr valve

Try putting a little WD 40 or some kind of thread remover on the nut and let it soak overnight. Then put a good quality wrench over the nut and crank away. You might use a line wrench if you have one. This type of wrench will not strip the hex off the nut. You will probably have to put some muscle into it to get it to break free. So, watch the knuckles at the same time.

SOURCE: can't get front wheel bearing retaining nut to break loose

Air tools? good heavens. Just get some classic coca cola and wait. She goes loose left handed. But make sure you undo the fixing of the nut first (the way it is secured not to turn loose spontaineously). At some cars there is a split pin, Mazda had those deformable ones which you had to cut partially. (And new ones ready)

SOURCE: 2000 olds intrigue, changing the front wheel bearings

Well the nut is a lock nut. Your not really supposed to reuse it, and after years of use its probably a little rusty. I would have someone stand on the brake pedal while you use a 1/2" drive breaker bar and a piece of pipe for leverage to loosen them. Do not use a impact gun unless you have to, it may damage the CV joint. If you do have to, make sure someone is holding the pedal down well. It will come off, remember counter clockwise loosens it. As for torque it should be about 184ft.lbs or 250Nm. Good luck! I hope this helps.

SOURCE: can not get hub Assembly nut to break loose, even

You need heat.
I have not had very good luck from small propane torches, you will need a auto shop torch set...but,
try soaking it with penetrating oil. (Keep adding it to allow penetration over time)

Washer leaking water during wash cycle. Does not

There is a bad seal where the tub mounting with the transmission shaft to cause the leak. It leaks when it tuns. To access this, the agitation fin need to be out so you can see the big nut holding the tube in a place with the shaft. Below this nut is a seal or gasket to prevent the water getting out of the bottom tube. Replace this then you are good . Good luck.

Hello! my tub seems to be very loose and makes loud noise when spin cycle turns on....what might that be?

you will need to remove your agitator. There should be a bolt on the top center of the agitator. you will need to remove the top of agitator or the cap to get to this bolt. once you loosen this bolt the hole agitator shold pull straight up.

Now you should see the long shaft in the center. Follow that shaft from the top down to the area where the shaft disappers and ther is a big round nut with 4 notches spaced evenly. This is call the spanner nut and you should use a spanner rench to tighten it with a small sleg or hammer ( a couple of good wacks should do. ) I know you probably do not have this tool, but at least you can verify that this is your problem. your spanner nut may be loose. this nut holds your inner tub down to the block. here is the break down

LEAK @ TUB BEARING NEED TO KNOW HOW TO REMOVE AGGITATOR

Hello shortschip, See this Post and I think it will get you started (old nickname dh1200s). I believe the FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW use 6207-2rs bearings in the outer tub. I have not replaced so I can?t say for sure. The Service Manual which will take you thru removing the outer tub and Clutch Pulley to remove the spinner assembly. There is a special tool needed to break loose the ¾? nut to remove the Spinner Assembly. I heard of someone removing that ¾? nut with a impact tool. Let us know how you make out The FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference. Check ebay for the bearings. Rich

GE washer Model WDSR2080D5WW Transmission shaft wobbles

If you can't loosen the nut, you can break it with a hammer and a metal chisel. Tub nut is cheap. Grease on clothes = new transmission time.
By the way, after you remove the inner tub,.... you have to take the entire outer tub assembly out of the washer, flip it upside down, remove the yoke that holds the motor onto the outer tub, and pull the transmission out through the bottom of the outer tub.

Stainless steel drum loose

A loose inner drum usually indicates a failed rear tub bearing. The only solution is to replace the rear half of the tub. (which contains the bearing).... You can check if the pulley nut has come loose by removing the rear panel. There is a large nut that retains the belt pulley to the shaft of the basket.

Whirlpool GHW9100LW1, belt came off

I had the same problem and being a procrastinator, I waited until the belt came off before launching a full scale investigation into the knocking noise it had been making for about a year. Here is what I found and below that is my no guarantees fix.....
I removed the nut and pulled the tub pulley off. I noticed the tub shaft has a "shoulder bolt" and the pulley could not be tightened onto the shoulder bolt with enough squeeze to keep the tub pulley from wobbling. Tolerance issue... maybe? I decided to measure the keyed tub shaft with calipers and found the thickest part of the shaft to be 1" ish. The Shaft is part of the tub bearing assembly (from my observation) and the tub shaft is part of the tub bearing which measured 1 1/4" diameter. I found a washer that was 1" inside diameter and 1 1/4" outside diameter and placed it over the tub shaft behind the tub pulley. I tightened the nut snugly and reinstalled the belt. Ahhhhh, quiet operation and no more wobble. I will let you know if it causes another problem but from what I can tell.... replacing the tub pulley with another of the same dimensions will not work.

you don't need a very thick washer(my washer is too thick (.1"ish) so I will replace it soon(yeah right) with 1/32" or maybe 1/16"...I used rubber but I think steel or brass or what ever would probably work too.

Purists will tell you that the lock nut should be replaced, or if you don't use the permanent thread locker you could use loctite.

Hope that helps.
