Go into the settings. You don't say what kind it is so I can't tell you where to go to do it.

SOURCE: Sumsung 600CLP Lazer Jet printer has a squeeking

I assume the printer is at least a couple years old or it has been used extensively.

The squeaking could be caused by some normal wear and tear of the printer. If you feel daring enough, you'll need to remove the side covers of the printer and locate the gears connected to a shaft on one side of the printer. Each shaft goes to the opposite side of the printer, where it ends in a bushing. The bushings wear out and start to squeak. You can lubricate the bushings with a very small amount of white lithium grease, taking care not to put any grease on the roller.

Attaching my HP Lazer Jet Printer to my computer (UBUNTU)

Ubuntu distributions have excellent auto-detection of hardware and lots of printer drivers. There's no need to download a separate driver to make your printer go.

The following technical data may be helpful to you if you encounter any difficulties:

http://www.openprinting.org/printer/HP/HP-LaserJet_1018

For scanning, you may have difficulties using the conventional drivers
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/models/laserjet/hp_laserjet_1018.html

I have found that Brother MFC series printers have great Ubuntu support.

I need to change the language settings on my printer but because uts in a foreign language at the moment (I think its in greek) I cant change it.

Press the * and # button together and release them. the display will now show '**************#########'. now press the 1, 2, and 3 buttons one after the other. Then it'll show 'Support' and the firmware version. Next press the Right arrow button twice so you see 'Resets Menu'. Press the OK button. Press the OK button again when it shows 'Country/Language Reset'. The printer will now shut down. Turn it on again, and you can select the correct language and country.
