Depends on appliance it may or may not work. For example european 220v radio will probably work with converter.
220v air conditioner will require dedicated wiring (2 separated phases) Because you post question here I recommend to contact qualified electrician
If you are using a 220V-240V appliance at 110V, you will need a transformer. If you are using a 110V appliance at 220V-240V, you can also use a transformer but may be able to get away with a (cheaper) converter though not with all appliances.

If you are lucky you would have lost the fuse on the sub woofer module which powers the whole unit. If not, yes you will need a qualified technician to look into the matter because its not a small offense to plug a 110 device into 220v.
