Cleaning of the condenser is recommended every 3-6 months_
TO CLEAN:
" Remove Machine Compartment cover
(see page4).
" Turn the power to the unit off using the
Main Power switch.
NOTE:
Turning the power off on the electronic control panel inside the refrigerator stops cooling only in both compartments. It DOES NOT turn off
power to the unit.
• Use the soft
brush vacuum
attachment
to loosendust
and lint on
the condenser fins.Vacuum to remove
the soil.
• After cleaning, turn the Main Power
switch back on.
• Replace the machine compartment

I suggest an appliance and/or refrigeration technician. It could be low Freon or a sensor.

SOURCE: jenn air refrigerator problem

Couple things to check first is that your evaporator fan motor is running, located in the back of your freezer. open the door and listen for the fan some work on the door switch make sure you depress the switch to check it. If the fan is not running more than likely you need a new fan. The second thing is just look at the back of the freezer compartment and look for a layer of heavey frost if there is heavey frost then your defrost is not working, will need to manually defrost and probably replace the defrost terminator part of the heater assymbly

Try defrosting ther could be an ice buildup in the channel between the fridge and freezer.

Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay. Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

What are the typical reasons for excessive ice build up in the freezer of Jenn-Air model JS48SEDBDA? The fan is touching the chunk of ice and making a loud noise.

I have this problem with my fridge if I load the freezer up, and I am talking there is no room for anything else in the freezer. ( bottom freezer) I have to get my heat gun or use a blow dryer and go over the vents in the freezer and thaw them out ( if they look frosty ) this has solved my refrigerator problems.

Jenn-Air JS48SEDBDA, sn 1271791 will not cool both freezer and refrigerator

The number reason for the Jenn Air no cool situation is caused by a break down of hte PAG oil in the compressor, thus clogging the capilary tube at the filter drier area, and causing contamination within the system. Per the Maytag TSB, a new compressor kit, heat exchanger, and new liquid line drier are required to be replaced. The compressor kit should come with a new main logic board. The ramaining componants need to be completely purged with nitrogen till clean. The condensor coil must be clean and free of any dust. A new lower freon charge follows the completed repair, and replacement decal to show new charge.

The freezer is not as cold as it should be. Is 2 the coldest setting? Shouldn't 4 or 5 freeze ice cream hard? Thank you. Jim

Hi Jim,
I am currently working on that model for a friend, the higher number the colder that compartment will get, it is not advisable to go any higher than 5 or 6, because this will reduce air to the refer section. Is the fan working in the freezer? I have seen problems with this model, and when the drain pan to the evaporator clogs, then the water freezes around the fan motor and stops it from functioning.
Get back to me and I could lead you in the right direction if needed.

Jenn-Air Refrigerator Not Cooling

As others have noted, the solution is counter-intuitive but easy. The refrigerator keeps cold on this model by cold air coming over from the freezer side. So most likely it is ice blocking the freezer coils or the fan that moves the air. So turn off the freezer and defrost it. You will need to remove the big white plate on the back of the freezer (on the inside) to most effectively get the ice to melt. You can use a hair dryer for this, or just leave the freezer sitting with the door open for several hours.
