SOURCE: removing top from Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care Model GEQ8858KQ0 Dryer

Here is the answer to my own question and for anyone else who may have a similar noise problem with coins , metal objects, etc getting under the vanes or fins in the dryer drum. DISCONNECT OR UNPLUG DRYER-Remove 4 screws from the back edge of the control panel on the back of the dryer. Then lift up on the backside of the cover that also has the control unit attached to it. Slide the top cover towards the front of the dryer and then lift up on front and lay the entire cover and control panel towards the back of the dryer. A wall works great to hold this out of your way. The control panel remains on the cover and the drum will stay intact. Rotate the drum to locate which fin or vane the object is located. Move this vane to top and then remove three screws that is holding the vane. These are course threaded screws that screw into the plastic vanes. a nu6t driver was required. After removing the vane I found a quarter, and a few lint balls, There are only three vanes in the drum, so take about 10 more minutes and remove all three vanes to clean out the lint.To reinstall cover slide the cover back onto the two clips(one on each side) push towards back, checking to make sure front is held down by the clips, then replace the 4 screws on backside of dryer. If the lady of the house is around, it would now be a good time to clean out from behind and under the dryer to get up the rest of the dust, lint, and whatever remains or was lost.

There should be screws on the back side of the top panel that come out. Then the panel will slide out so that you can access the front controls.

We have a whirlpool duet front load dryer, why does it beep during a cycle?? when clothes are still wet?

You can perform some Whirlpool electric dryer timer troubleshooting to determine if the timer is faulty or if the cause is somewhere else within the dryer.
  1. Access the Timer
    • Unplug the Whirlpool dryer power cord from the dryer electrical outlet. The timer is inside the control panel on the top of the dryer. Pull the dryer away from the back wall so that the control console can be raised without hitting the wall.
Remove the single screw on each end of the control console that secures the control console housing to the top of the dryer. Grab the sides of the control console and raise the front of the console up and toward the rear of the dryer. With the control console in the service position you will now be able to test the timer.
    Test the Timer
    • Locate the dryer timer inside the control console. It will be directly behind the dryer timer control knob. There are two wires that connect from the dryer to the dryer timer. Place a piece of masking tape on each wire and write on the tape what terminal each wire attaches. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the wires from the terminal ends on the timer.
Set the scale on a volt-ohm meter to the RX1 setting to measure the ohms of the timer. Place one probe to one terminal and the other probe to the remaining terminal. You should get a reading between 2,000 ohms and 3,000 ohms. If you do not get this reading, replace the timer.
    Replacing the Timer
    • Pull the control knob off of the timer shaft on the face of the control console. Remove the two screws that secure the timer to the inside of the control console. Pull the timer out and take the timer with you to an appliance repair facility. Compare the new timer to the old timer to make sure that the mounting screws match.
Place the new timer inside the console and secure the timer with the two retaining screws. Attach the wires to the timer and remove the masking tape from the wires. Lower the control console and reattach the console to the top of the dryer with the retaining screws. Push the control knob back over the timer shaft. Push the dryer back against the wall and plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

Need kenmore electric dryer model 110.66662500 wiring diagram. will not heat

Should find the wiring diagram under or in behind the control panel accessed by removing the 2 screws holding the panel down either in the front lower or rear lower end caps . If you can't see any screw heads there may be removable covers on the end caps from top to bottom . On some newer models you can insert a putty knife under the end caps on the front and depress a clip on either side and the whole control panel lifts and lays back. Before any of that check your fuses at the panel 2-- 30 amp

Whirlpool duet dryer f70 code

The F70 and F71 error codes on this model of washer indicates a communication problem between the user interface control board and the central control unit (main control board). These error codes can sometimes be caused by a power surge or glitch through the electrical lines. Try unplugging the washer to completely disconnect electrical power. Wait 1 minute and then plug the washer back in to the see if the fault code clears. If it does, then the washer may work normally.

If the code reappears, then you could have a wire harness connection problem, a failed user interface control board or a failed central control unit. I recommend calling a service technician to properly diagnose and repair this type of problem so that the correct component can be replaced.

Be sure your unit is plugged into a 3 prong grounded outlet as well.

F71 is a "heatbeat failure" which means that your front interface control board is shorted and will need to be replaced. it's actually fairly easy to replace and can definitely be done by yourself. To access the part, just pull the unit forward and remove the 3 screws coming in from the back of the top panel. Remove the top panel by pulling it back, up, and off. Then remove all the screws going into the top of the control panel. Remove the dispenser drawer and remove the screws coming in through the dispenser. Remove the screws coming from the inside of the dryer going forward into the control panel, then remove the control panel (it's just clipped in on the bottom. After that you can disconnect the wire harnesses to the front interface control board and replace that part.

It starts working for a minute and it stop working

It is an indication of a shorted thermistor. Disconnect power to the dryer and check the resistance of the thermistor.

The thermistor (part #8577274) is located on the blower housing with red/white stripe and black wires and can be accessed by removing the lower front access panel. Remove the two hex-head screws attaching the bottom of the lower front access panel to the cabinet and pull the bottom out then down and move the panel away from the cabinet.

Disconnect one wire from the thermistor and use an ohmmeter, set to X1, to measure the resistance. Touch the ohmmeter test leads to the thermistor terminals and measure the resistance. The resistance reading at room temperature of a good thermistor is between 8.5 and 13.5 ohms; otherwise, replace the thermistor.

Remove the two screws mounting the thermistor to the blower housing then mount and secure the new thermistor in place. Connect the thermistor wires then slide the lower front access panel up back into position to the cabinet and secure its bottom with the two securing screws.

In case the measured thermistor resistance falls within the allowed range, measure the resistance between the disconnected thermistor wire and the other one. Replace the dryer control electronics (part #8546219).

Remove the screws attaching the top panel to the rear of the dryer then slide the panel rearward and lift it off.

Facing the front of the dryer, the dryer control board is located on the left mounted behind the bracket. Remove the three screws holding the bracket in place then rotate assembly up and set it on the side panel.

Disconnect the wiring harnesses from the control board one at a time then connect it to the new control board.

Remove the control board mounting screw near the transformer then press the side ends one at a time to release the mounting tabs and lift the end away from the bracket.

Secure the new control board to the bracket and reassemble the rest in reverse of the steps given above.

Need new user interface

If you're talking about the interface control board behind the front panel, this is a fairly simple repair. Just follow these steps:

1. Unplug the dryer.
2. Remove the top panel by locating and removing the three screws that hold the panel in place in the rear of the dryer. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, then lift off.
3. With the top panel removed, locate the EOC board (main control board mounted on the left hand side of the drum) and remove the access cover.
4. Carefully remove the two small ribbon cables that run from the Interface Board to the EOC. NOTE: You may have to remove the EOC for better access. If you do, make sure you handle with care and don't stress the cables. Some of these connectors will have a small release tab you have to push in order to get the connector to come apart. So, if it doesn't come apart, don't force it - check for a release tab. Also, use care when handling the ribbon cables, they can be fragile.
5. With the ribbon cables disconnected from the EOC, remove the screws holding the operator console in place and lift the entire assembly straight up. This will allow you to work on the panel on a bench top or table top.
6. Lay the operator console face down and carefully remove the old Interface board and ribbon cables.
7. Install your new board being careful not to handle the board components. Some of these circuit cards are static sensitive. Try to only handle the edges of the board.

If you have any questions about this repair, or need additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
