This doesn't happen on my other TV, only my Sony. It allows about 10 minutes of viewing before the error appears and the pictures disappears. The volume continues.
Look at your documentation on the television set operating instructions and see if there is a way to update the firmware or the software of the applications. If not post the make and model number of the unit here under comments

You have a regulator problem in the power supply. Possibly capacitors, (tuning).
As a company, I cunducted research on the average life time of a TV.
Rental sets, around 5 years.
Owned sets 6-7 years, before they become uneconomical to repair.

Make sure you have it set to wireless off in the menu or it will not recognise the ethernet port on the back even if it is flashing. Most tvs with browsers come with the wirless function set to on. Also if it has search for internet signal you could try this to get it to rec. as well.
