I read 2 articles that state the UV-C air sanitizer breaks down mold spores and VOCs but breaks them into simpler molecules such as formaldehyde and other aldehydes. Should I be worried?

Dozens of delicate, webby circular creatures hhave suddenly begun to appear on our clothes and other articles which aren't in wardrobes or covered. They appear to have no means of propulsion

if they appear to be grey fuzzy things that tend to gather in clumps in areas , this sounds to be a form of mold , and yes mold spores do use the air as there form of propulsion , and it only takes a few to start a colony , once they start there hard to stop from growing

Duct Cleaning Can Be a Messy Job Or it Can Be Made Very Simple

There are many companies that advertise air duct cleaning as a way to make the air in your home cleaner and healthier. While that is a good thing, there is a better way to improve the air quality of your home. With the installation of a UV light based air cleaner your can keep the ducts of your home clean and free of the many bad things that like to grow in your air ducts.
Many people today are becoming concerned about the air ducts in their home. These are the passages that the air flows through to heat or cool their homes. They can become a breeding ground for numerous molds, bacteria, and virus. With the addition of a very simple appliance you can eliminate much of the danger that could come from your ductwork.
Ultraviolet Light has been used for years to help to kill bad bacteria and sanitize equipment. Water treatment facilities use UV to treat the water before it is released into streams. In homes with wells that are contaminated, water can be treated by passing by a UV light. This type of light is very effective at killing micro-organisms quickly and efficiently. Some of these systems are even effective at getting rid of hard to kill things such as SARS and the Swine Flu virus.
Now it is very easy to install an Ultraviolet Light in your air ducts to kill the many bad bugs that like to live in there. It is a simple as cutting a hole in your ductwork, mounting the unit to the side of the duct and plugging it in to an ordinary outlet.
While a physical cleaning or your air ducts may be a good idea it can be very expensive, dirty, and time consuming. Also to do this means that the ducts must be cut into in many places and sealing them up again permanently is a problem. With this type of unit your ducts will self clean over time. I have seen many ducts that slowly clean them selves after the installation of a UV unit. It will not dissolve big hard items in your duct but it does tend to dissolve small dust particles and make your duct look cleaner.
The main result of installing a UV unit in your HVAC system is that you will be breathing air that is free of the bad stuff that can cause health problems. Even if you choose to have your duct vacuumed and cleaned also consider the installation of a UV system to keep your ducts clean and sanitized.
Clean sanitary ductwork will give you and your family the healthiest, freshest air to breath possible.

How and why do water striders walk on top of the water

how: because water molecules 'like' each other more than air molecules or the molecules in the striders feet (it's a lower energy state the way), and this leads to a phenomenon named 'surface tension'. It's the same reason why water droplets form in oil or why when you pour water into a glass tube the surface of the water is flat all the way to the walls of the tube. But the surface tension of water can only support a certain weight (pressure) of certain materials, which is why you can't walk on water.
Why do they do it ? Because that's what water striders do. If they didn't do that we wouldn't have water striders. Because they have evolved to occupy that particular niche in nature, and may enable to be safer from predators or to find food that are inaccessible to other species. Read about them in this rather complex article on the internet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_strider

The styrofoam inside the unit is covered in black mold. I was wondering what i should do if anything.

Any mold in any part of the unit is not good, especially if its in the Styrofoam, Styrofoam has pores and hides the mold spores well, it would be dangerous to actually run the unit with mold spores as it can travel inside the house. Unfortunately companies that make these units don't make these units mold proof, why should they? that's how they make their money. I have three units, one has always given me problems with mold. It always comes back. The other two are always clean. My best advice, get rid of the unit and get another one or get a free estimate on Central air and heat. Mold is very dangerous and is not worth the risk, it can cause a number of medical issues.

Mold on botttom screen and gaskets of aGE dishwasher i used 1 cup of vinegar thru 1 cycle it is still there to be scraped off help

Using a dilute solution of 1 teaspoon chlorine bleach to 1 cup water, spray the screen and gaskets. Wait about 20 minutes to give the bleach time to kill the spores and bleach them. Then gently wipe with a paper towel or cloth towel. This should kill and remove the spores. THEN leave the door open overnight to let air circulate inside the dishwasher. If your mold problem disappears, continue to leave the door ajar once a week so that air can circulate. Mold does not live in open, airy spaces.
I hope this helps you. If it does, please come back to Fixya and rate my solution.

Mold inside the home unit

You can use a spray bottle with 100% bleach in it to kill the mold. After spraying the gunk, you can put on some rubber gloves (those dishwashing ones are a good choice) and use some paper towels to wipe up as much of the mold as you can reach.

Spray more bleach on the parts you're cleaning to keep sanitizing the A/C unit and wipe everything dry. You should put all the stuff you used for cleaning it up (paper towels, gloves, etc.) into a plastic trash bag,

I'd also recommend that you do this when any small children and pets aren't in the room you've got the A/C in, and also wear a face mask to keep from breathing in anything that could cause a respritory ailment.

You can also use some Lysol disenfectant to give the whole unit a nice going over, once you're done, to be sure that you've killed any active mold spores. It might be good to give the unit a once-a-month cleaning to prevent the growth of mold in the future.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Indoor blower unit getting loaded with mold...Y. and how do i stop it.

Mold spores are probably coming from surrounding surfaces... The simple fix is BLEACH...but washing the unit(with the power off) will not fix the problem if you dont kill the mold spores on surrounding surfaces... [simple: the blower circulates AIR,,, MOLD SPORES TRAVEL THROUGH THE UNIT AND LAND ALL OVER IT...] find the source, kill the source... and maybe go see the Doctor, the mold may be in your lungs too...
