Makita HM0810 Piston rings. Hi, can piston rings really by replaced by rubber o-rings?. Saw a lot of videos people doing that. Any reason for that besides the cost difference?

SOURCE: husqvarna 141 piston ring, what is the required

It's been a few years but I've installed piston rings in many small engines. Many rings are beveled or rounded on the top outside to prevent excessive cylinder wear or scaring the cylinder wall. The bevel should be very slight and very hard so see. Some may have a small dot or marking cast into the ring near the end/split. If that is the case the ring should be installed with the marking turned toward the cylinderhead. Hint, lube the piston, rings, and cylinderwall before installing the piston. Gene

SOURCE: my hyundai accent piston rings need a change how

If it needs rings, it probably needs a lot of other engine work, like a cylinder hone, or if it's out of spec, a bore, which means new pistons and on. You might look into a good remanufactured engine that comes with a warrantee if your has a ton of miles on it.

MaKita DPC 7311 Saw, how do I get a piston in cylinder when replacing with a new one & ring ?

Provided the cylinder is sized for the piston and you have the correct rings, you need a ring compressor. If the cylinder slides over the piston/rings be sure to get a ring compressor that allows you to get the compressor off when the rings go into the cylinder. You can't use too much force to get the rings into the cylinder or you'll break the rings and have to start over. An auto parts or small engine shop will be able to get you the tool.

Right steering clutch will not completely disengage. why do i have a loss in pressure when i pull the steering leaver to its travel end?

sounds like didnt get all the trash out --possible valve is fouled or blocked and not closing or sealing correctly and allowing blow by or leakage test valve and pressure piston rings may be causing blow by as well also new parts doesnt mean free from defects

I need a piston and barrel for a makita dpc8112 stone saw

The cylinder and piston sell in a kit under part number 326-130-051. You can find it on websites like http://www.ereplacementparts.com/ but it costs $317 plus shipping. You may do better to find a local Makita service center that can order the part for you. Go to the Makita website at www.makitatools.com/en-us/Modules/Home/Default.aspx and look under the Services tab for a service center search box.

I had a very similar problem with a stihl 029 farm boss.I did everything you did except I took it to a shop to do the piston and ring replacement. When I got it back the first time it would run for about two mins. then die.I fought it for a couple of weeks then took it back and expressed my displeasure. Then checked it all over and replaced piston and ring again and it runs great. They told me they could not get the right compression with the first one and thought the groove for the ring was cut to deep.I hope this is of some help to you. Thank you.

Piston ring compressing

Don't use a rubber mallet! It shouldn't take that much force! Make sure the piston ring is compressed enough so it will fit inside the cylinder as you slide it down over the piston. Be very delicate! It doesn't take much effort to break a piston ring or screw up the crank bearings. Just take your time and make sure everything is lined up and extremely clean.a thin coat of 2-stroke oil on the piston, rings, and inseide the cylinder will help protect everything - just make sure you're working in a clean environment where there's no dirt and grime for the thin coat of oil to attract.
