You have not only to unplagge the unit, but also to pull out all of frozen, or cold food and other things like baskets etc. and to keep open all dors. All of unit, including inside parts, has to "warm" to home temperature and after that to stay as minimum 24 hours. If you leave frozen food iside unit and closed doors you have to wait a week or more. DON'T USE STEAMER! YOU WILL DAMAGE PLASTICS. DON'T APPROACH FROM BACK SIDE!

first thing I would suggest is to flush the drain line. defrost any ice in the drain and then flush warm water thru the line until it flows freelyif your having a hard time getting the line flushed out you may try using a large syringe or turrkey baster filled with warm water to forcfully flush water thru the line. this will most likely fix the problem.
you didnt mention if food was freezing in the refrig as well as the drain but there may be an off chance that the temperature control could be bad. since this is a manual defrost unit it depends on above freezing temps to help keep frost off of the cooling coil. if the temp control goes bad it will allow sub-freezing temps and possible drain freeze ups. so if the drain continues to freeze you will need to replace the temperature control.
if it comes to that, the control actually has a part number on it since maytag cant find your model number.
message me back if you have any further questions. thx peyton

i think its not the frz drain hole blocking up but a fault with the defrost tray heater. the tray heater should keep the defrosted frost as water to drain away. it sounds as though the tray heater is not working therefore letting the water freeze as it is escaping thorough the drain hole. i would check this out by defrosting the unit and inserting a flexi rod into the otherside of the drain hole (above the compressor usually) and after clearing it if it freezes up again check out the defrost/heater system.

If the ice is on the back panel especially a block of ice in the middle left part of your panel, then you have a sealed system problem. Check to make sure that your condensor coils above the refer are clean, and if it continues to have an ice block then you have to have a technician come out an do a major repair. This is not something you can do yourself, most subzeros have a 6 to 12 year sealed system warrantee that covers either all of the repair or just parts. This is an expensive repair if it is not warranteed, but when the refers cost 8000 to 10000 new it is usually well worth it. Most often it is the result of a slowly leaking evaporator, though most inexperienced technicians replace the compressor first, so make sure you use an experienced Sub-Zero technician. SOURCE: My refrigerator is drain tube IS PLUGGED
I am not seeing the answer to where is the drain whole for theer2chmxpl model of whirlpool refrigerator is. So I will share I found it behind the false back of the freezer under the coil but also under the tin pan under the coil. I had to use a hair dryer to defrost until I could pull the tin pan up but then I saw the black rubber ring and it was frozen over. I am trying to defrost with hair dryer.
