SOURCE: LG REFRIGERATOR - FREEZER ON BOTTON

You have not only to unplagge the unit, but also to pull out all of frozen, or cold food and other things like baskets etc. and to keep open all dors. All of unit, including inside parts, has to "warm" to home temperature and after that to stay as minimum 24 hours. If you leave frozen food iside unit and closed doors you have to wait a week or more. DON'T USE STEAMER! YOU WILL DAMAGE PLASTICS. DON'T APPROACH FROM BACK SIDE!

SOURCE: Crosley Servidor WCR17/E K3 Top Shelf and Drain Plug Freezes Over

first thing I would suggest is to flush the drain line. defrost any ice in the drain and then flush warm water thru the line until it flows freelyif  your having a hard time getting the line flushed out you may try using a large syringe or turrkey baster filled with warm water to forcfully flush water thru the line. this will most likely fix the problem.
you didnt mention if food was freezing in the refrig as well as the drain but there may be an off chance that the temperature control could be bad. since this is a manual defrost unit it depends on above freezing temps to help keep frost off of the cooling coil. if the temp control goes bad it will allow sub-freezing temps and possible drain freeze ups. so if the drain continues to freeze you will need to replace the temperature control.
if it comes to that, the control actually has a part number on it since maytag cant find your model number.
message me back if you have any further questions. thx peyton

SOURCE: MY GE PROFILE REFRIGERATOR IS WARM, FREEZER IS FINE.

i think its not the frz drain hole blocking up but a fault with the defrost tray heater. the tray heater should keep the defrosted frost as water to drain away. it sounds as though the tray heater is not working therefore letting the water freeze as it is escaping thorough the drain hole. i would check this out by defrosting the unit and inserting a flexi rod into the otherside of the drain hole (above the compressor usually) and after clearing it if it freezes up again check out the defrost/heater system.

SOURCE: Ice keeps forming inside on the back panel of mysubzero model 550

If the ice is on the back panel especially a block of ice in the middle left part of your panel, then you have a sealed system problem. Check to make sure that your condensor coils above the refer are clean, and if it continues to have an ice block then you have to have a technician come out an do a major repair. This is not something you can do yourself, most subzeros have a 6 to 12 year sealed system warrantee that covers either all of the repair or just parts. This is an expensive repair if it is not warranteed, but when the refers cost 8000 to 10000 new it is usually well worth it. Most often it is the result of a slowly leaking evaporator, though most inexperienced technicians replace the compressor first, so make sure you use an experienced Sub-Zero technician. SOURCE: My refrigerator is drain tube IS PLUGGED

I am not seeing the answer to where is the drain whole for theer2chmxpl model of whirlpool refrigerator is. So I will share I found it behind the false back of the freezer under the coil but also under the tin pan under the coil. I had to use a hair dryer to defrost until I could pull the tin pan up but then I saw the black rubber ring and it was frozen over. I am trying to defrost with hair dryer.

Why is water collecting and freezing on the floor of my freezer compartment?

Water collecting and freezing on the floor of your freezer compartment is likely due to a clogged or frozen defrost drain. When the refrigerator goes through a defrost cycle, the melted ice and frost should drain through the defrost drain and into the drip pan underneath the refrigerator. However, if the drain is clogged or frozen, the water will collect on the freezer floor and eventually freeze.
To fix this issue, you will need to clear the defrost drain. Here are the steps to do so:
  1. Unplug the refrigerator to avoid any electrical hazards.
  2. Locate the defrost drain at the back of the freezer compartment. It may be covered with ice or debris, so you may need to remove the freezer drawer and any shelves to access it.
  3. Clear the drain using a turkey baster or a small funnel to pour hot water down the drain. You can also use a pipe cleaner or a wire to remove any clogs.
  4. Once the drain is cleared, you can clean the inside of the freezer with a solution of warm water and baking soda to remove any odors.
  5. Finally, plug the refrigerator back in and allow it to cool down before placing the food back in the freezer.
If you're unsure about performing these steps, or if the issue persists after clearing the drain, it's best to consult a professional appliance repair technician to diagnose and fix the problem.

Ice forming under the freezer drawer & on drain tube water pooling in floor Cleared drain tube, what else?

Whirlpool corp., whom made this unit, had a bad design for the defrost drain tube by the compressor. Order part W10619951 and install. This is a kit to change out the current drain tube to a better one. You still have to defrost the frozen defrost drain tube but this will fix it for good.

Maytag Refrigerator/freezer alarm will not turn off.

check that tha fan beside the compressor in lower back is running and that condenser tubing is lint free, also check for icing on frezer back panel if so you could have a defrost problem, if all is good you may have a freon leak inside the frig walls as tubing is all metal and will rust when sitting for a long time in storage due to moisture build up from been warm outside and cool inside during normal usage in which case you may need to change the appliance at that point you will need a service call to find if there's still freon inside your frig and of coarse your control may not read the properly..

Maytag model MF12569VEQ1

Dick,
Odds are your drain line is clogged. Often it is ice that is the clog. Here is what ya do: Empty the Freezer and unplug the refrigerator. Get a hair dryer and after removing the ice on the floor of the freezer and drying the bottom of freezer prop the hair dryer up inside a glass or ceramic (insulating) casserole dish pointed at the back bottom of freezer. Put hair dryer on hi and close the door. After about an hour (as you check in on it every ten min\'s) look for water dripping from the drain line into pan. If need be, use a shop vac to blow in from the top and draw (suck) on the drain tube at bottom. I bet this fixes it. Plug frig back in and observe over next week or so.

It has a clogged drain tube and bottom trays is already full.
De-clogged it using a solid wire, match enough to penetrate the drain tube.
Insert solid wire slowly to the drain tube, back and forth.
Put water to clean and rinse drain tube.
Regularly check drain tube for clogged and tray for full water.
Good luck.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

This is caused by a clogged evaporator drain that is item 5 of this link:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=47966
It can be clogged either in the funnel area or at the end of the tube underneath the refrigerator.
Item 5 catches water from item 14 this link:

Your evaporator drain is clogged. (how to clear it)

  • Unplug the unit remove the freezer contents and do a manual defrost by directing an external fan at the freezer compartment for just over 2 hours. (Makes a water mess so be prepaired) This is a must do!
  • Remove the rear fiber-board compressor and condensor coil cover and locate the compartment drain tube in the drip pan. Make sure the end of the tube is NOT blocked. Clean as necessary.
  • After the 2 hour period... use vacuum forced air OUT pressure on the end of the drain hose in the drip pan. Have a 2nd person listen for airflow in the freezer compartment. This will float out any debris from the compartment drain funnel.
  • Clean the condensor coils and fan while the unit is unplugged but do NOT use anything sharp.
If you can not get air-flow up through the compartment drain funnel underneath the evaporator coils you will have to remove the access panel and remove the debris from the drain funnel.

Return the unit to normal service after cleaning. Watch for more ice build up after a week. No ice blocks after a week... no worries. Ice under the ice-maker... replace the inlet water valve due to it bypassing water when in the OFF mode.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Water leaking and freezing at bottom of freezer in side by side Maytag model # msd2454gr refridgerator.

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

WE have an older fridge. Water is now collecting

Good day,
On some of the older models when the refrigerator went thru it's automatic defrost cycle, the condensate water ran down the back wall, under the crispers and out that drain plug you described.
You can verify if that is your model by looking at the back wall of the machine. If there is no drain tube running down the back, then that is the model you have.
If that is the case, just remove the plug. The water should run directly into the drain pan.
Clean the plug and opening and that's it.

Leaking in the bottom of the freezer side

Plugged up drain. Unplug refrigerator. Remove basket at bottom of inside freezer ( it may be frozen in ice) . Get your hair dryer and thaw and remove all ice, At the very back bottom of inside freezer is the drain that is plugged up. You will see a hole, pour hot water into it. You may need to snake a flexible piece of wire through the hole. Once water goes down its open. Worst case you may have to remove drain tube in back bottom and clean out. Hope this helps

What causes water to run in bottom of refrigarator

This is caused by plugged drain tube. When the freezer goes through a defrost cycle the water drains down a tube in the back of the freezer to the pan under the refrigerator. When this tube is plugged the water doesnt drain through the tube but drains through the vent in the refer. The easy way to fix this is to unplug the refrigerator for 24 hours.
