Did you check your cable box or satellte box set-up? I thought I had the same problem on my Hitachi 46F500 but it ended up being my Comcast box was set-up to display closed captioning on the component video output ONLY. Hope this helps...

SOURCE: Sony 46" XBR2 Cannot turn off closed caption

With TV on, turn off DVR and hit menu on DVR remote - you can disable CC from there.  Worked for us - got the idea from another fixya post.

SOURCE: toshiba 62hx94 cant shut off closed caption have comcast cable

The problem was with the Motorfolla Comcast cable box not my T.V. . I turned off my Comcast cable box, pressed menu on the remote to the cable box. This made a 16:9 ratio appear on the cable box's LED read out, and a bluish screen appear on my television. One of the options on my television was to turn on and off closed captioning. Therfore, I turned off closed captioning and the problem was solved.

Here is a link to the manual. It appears to me your set does not support closed captioning. It is too old. It mentions channel captioning, but that is for a channel identifier for reference. http://diplo-best.com/314.php?k=ac30c98e172782467c3895e8cba613ad&ID=87078&q=SONY KV-27TS27

The tv has been accidentally set for "demo mode". Press the volume up and volume down buttons in front of the TV at the same time for about 5 to 10 seconds untill the demo disappears or sometimes the TV will turn off. You should regain control of the TV after this.

Your closed caption is turned on. Go into the menu and set captions to off or look for captions button on remote. Sometimes identified as cc. Press it until "captions off "appears on screen. That should do it. Good luck.
