Have a fetch main box and a mini and sometimes it won't play what's recorded on the mini

You cannot hot swap HDMI connections. First thing to try is to power off and unplug all the devices from everything. Then make the connections to the Fetch and the Television, Then power to the Fetch, then the television, then turn on the Fetch, then the television. There is also a chance that the HDMI cable is an older one and needs to be replaced.

Sounds like the tape mechanism is damaged, which can't be user serviced. It must be taken into a professional service center for repair.

Make sure your tape tab is open. See if this works. Sometimes the tab should be closed to prevent eraser or recording over existing film but sometimes the tape tab has to be open to allow for playback or dubbing?

using a mini plug for both laptop / mini player...plug into headphones on laptop and into line in mini......when ready press play on laptop while also pressing record on mini........note have your play list ready for continuous recording...(you can always edit later)

If there is no problem when you play back on a different camera or computer, then the fault concerns LCD ribbon cable or lcd controller circuit on main pcb.

If the recorded image is also distorted on computer and different camcorder, then you have a faulty ccd sensor.
Also wiring problem and pcb fault sometimes can cause ditorted picture, in that case the problem is usually a kind of dirturbance and does not happen all the time.

If you are referring to the JVC GR-DVL520, yes it does play Mini DV tapes, as well as records to them. It will not play Mini DV tapes that were recorded on an HDV camera. HDV is used by any Mini DV camera that records HD video.

Alot of set top boxes suffer from mains interference and this could be your problem as you're suddenly getting 3 boxes doing it.

Try putting an RFI Suppression anti surge mains lead on one of the boxes and see if that helps.

does it sound like you have stuck your head out of the window of a moving car if so then the speaker is blown it happens sometimes, worst case sometimes its the main pcb as well.

mini DVs sometimes can't be access using usb interface, try to look if u have a firewire interface, be sure your laptop supports IEEE1394. power dvd is the best player for dvd files. -r means recordable, not rewritable (rw). if ur not familiar with video editing, you may not be able to burn it to disc, but you can play and watch everytime.
