Sonic Blue GO VIDEO DVR4400 DVD/VHS player won't copy VHS to DVD-R. Why?

I have a Sonic Blue Go Video DVD/VHS player DVR4400. Trying to record home videos to DVD. Followed instructions I found on YOUTUBE and it gives me a "Disk Error, Unable to read Disk" message when I hit the copy button. These are new DVD-R disks so I'm not understanding why I am getting this message. The front of the player says DVD, CD, CD-R/RW, MP3 PLAYER". Does this indicate that I can record VHS to DVD? It has a "copy" button on the right below the VHS door and a "rec" under the DVD tray. Thanks for any help.

Thank you! I see it's a DVD to VHS. It's backwards!! Well that's a bummer. I'll have to figure out an alternative.

Thanks for your quick response! So even though it has a "copy" button, it doesn't necessarily mean it can transfer VHS to DVD?

You need to convert avi files to dvd format before burning, otherwise the player won't recognize them. Google "avi to dvd" and you'll find a number of free or pay programs that will do the conversion for you.

SOURCE: "Invalid Video Found" HDR-CX7 and VRD-MC5 DVD Recorder

The same happend to me. The camera contains informations of videofiles, which are no more present on the camera (were deleted from a computer). You are not able to record in full disk mode, or any other mode, which includes these videos. These missing files can be easily recognised, as the camcorder is not able to play them. Try to get rid of these "files", or ommit them from the recording list.

How to record dvd from vhs

There are some units that can do this, but if you are trying to copy commercially recorded VHS movies to DVD you will have issues. The VHS tapes have copy protection on them and all manufactured hardware to record these have been required by law to support the protection. Thus, you will get poor copy reproduction when copying. If they are home-movie style VHS tapes, no such issues exist. You can either get a unit that has both devices integrated and has copy capability, or you can you a VHS player and send the outputs to a DVD recorder.

Why won't the Sony controls let me click onto finalize using a Sony TV w/recoder to transfer VHS to DVD?

Is the VHS tape you are trying to record a commercial VHS tape (movie)? If so, it may have copy protection on it. The recorder is probably programmed to prevent you from making and using DVDs of commercial copy-protected VHS tapes.

I have Magnavox DVD player/vcr DV225MG9, does it record from vhs onto dvds? And if not, what do I need to get so that I can copy all of these old vhs movies to dvds?

it won't record dvd's its only a dvd player. only the vcr records
if the vhs movies your trying to record are movies like star wars and stuff like that it's copy protected and no worth the trouble. if it's home movies or something you recorded from tv they might work. if you get a dvd recorder/vhs player.

Is it possible the VHS you're trying to copy is copy-protected? Apparently, the MC6 displays "waiting for signal" when you're attempting to copy a copy-protected (commercial) video. I had success converting my own homemade VHS tapes. I just bought my MC6, and thought I'd pass along some tips I got from others: You know you're recording when a red ring around the large Record button lights up and it actually says "recording" on screen, and adjust HQ to SP to get 2-plus hours of video on the DVD.

I have a go.video dvr4400

Most DVD recorders use DVD-R, some also use DVD-RW. Newer ones use the +R and DVD-RAM formats.

But for the maximum compatibility, you should use DVD-R.
