Get it serviced. If a service switch has tripped there may be a component failure or circuit issues. Also, gas boilers are required by law to be inspected and serviced annually so if your service light is on or it's overdue for a service, only a licensed tech can service it.

SOURCE: Hi. I have a ST6400S

The only way to get the key sequence is to contact honeywell tech support, they will give you the sequence over the phone as long as you are a contractor (or pretend to be one), but they will not send out any literature on it. If you live in an owner occupier dwelling then it has been fitted by mistake, and the best thing is to replace it.

Honeywell gas valves are the most commonly fitted type to all domestic boiler brands. Generally, they're very reliable, but like ALL moving parts they can and do fail from time to time.

There are no particular known issues with the VR4605M.

Basically, the best person to diagnose your fault is the qualified and trained person who you've already had looking at it. It then depends upon whether you trust the engineer and only you can decide on that point. Any reputable engineer will be happy to clearly explain the reasoning for diagnosing a faulty gas valve and you can insist on retaining the faulty part in order to get it tested elsewhere if you subsequently have good reason to supect that you were conned into having a perfectly good part replaced.

Obviously, if the engineer is not properly accredited then you're taking a gamble (and in most countries an illegal one) from the outset. Most qualified gas fitters are honest and trustworthy as it ensures further recommendations and repeat business, but that is not the case with the fast-buck cowboys who offer no guarantees for overcharged and dangerous workmanship.

Hope this helps and that you get your heating fixed soon. Please take a moment to rate my answer.

I have recently brought my hous3 and have a Honeywell ST9400S. It says it needs a code as a service is due but this was done the week before I moved in. How do I find the code to override this.

Here's a link to the manual. You'll probably need it for future and current issues.

Resetting the Service Timer Function
If the Service Timer function is enabled you will be required to reset it after the boiler service has been carried out.
The process for resetting the Service Timer is as follows:
a. Enter Installer Modes (as described on page 3 see manual) and navigate to SET SERVICE mode. In response to the query 'SET SERVICE OK ?' press the button to enter SET SERVICE mode.
b. If you no longer require the Service Timer, disable it by setting parameter AL to 0 and confirm with the button.
c. If you still require the Service Timer, set the number of days until the next service is due using parameter d and confirm with the button.
d. Whilst in SET SERVICE mode, use the opportunity to change any other service parameters if required.
e. Exit by moving the slider to the next position and back again to RUN
My suggestion is to download the manual and print a hard copy to have when you begin the reset process.
I know i'd need it! :)
Cheers

Looks as if your boiler is over firing (extended run) you probably have a faulty sensing thermostatic probe causing this the switch you are resetting is a safty pressure switch it is designed to keep the pressure from building which could cause the boiler to explode.

Check how all three "on/off" sequences are programmed firsrt, then all other programmable options. Make sure sliders are in the sliders are in the correct possition. If it becomes more complicated than launching a space shuttle, reset it. Unless your house is a mansion keep it simple with just day and night modes. the money you save wont even cover the cost to fix the hole you punch in the wall trying to do fancy programming ;-D
