Hard water is the reason for the spots. There is a new product out at www.dishwasherfilter.com that is made specifically to fix this problem. It filters the water going only into your dishwasher leaving your dishes spot free with every load. It is very affordable and guaranteed to work or your money back. You will love the way your dishes look after the very first load.

Try 1/2 cup of vinegar with a load and see if that cleans the sensor travel area past the drum but inside the tub. This is a common problem for an old machine. Best leak is on the door and you may be able to tighten the screws but be careful it could mis aligne it so tighten a small amount and test by closeing the door. Do this at least twice before turning the screws hard.
