I'm having the same problem, too. However, the beeping continues and continues. Even when it stops, the light comes back on. Any other thoughts?
Blinded by the light
SOURCE: my handset reads "out of range" but it is sitting on the base.
It could be faulty phones or try replacing the batteries

You need to reset the main base unit. Unplug the power from the back of the base. While the power is disconnected, press and hold the delete key while reconnecting the power. Wait for a long beep tone. When the display shows 88 or P, press play button one time. If you have a phone without an answering machine, disconnect the power from the back of the base, press and hold find hs button while reconnecting power.

to clear the base of all phones. Missing or not. for the uniden tru9085 3 cordless phone
First deregister any phones that you already have. You can do it by linking to the base, or you can do the 'remove battery, press key, insert battery' method.
Once that is done:
1. Disconnect ac adapter
2. Press hold dnd ,middle soft key, star key, hold at the same time.
3. Reconnect ac adapter while holding three keys
4. Long beep release button
Done!
