SOURCE: Rinnai tankless water heater code 12

12 - Flame Failure or Poor Ground

1. Immediate code 12 is usually a defective gas valve, power supply problem, or defective fan motor wiring harness.

2. If code 12 occurs after a few seconds it indicates that proper operation was established, but then stopped unexpectedly.

3. Verify that fuel is being supplied to the unit.

4. Check for proper electrical ground. Unit must use a grounded power supply.

5. Check for flue blockage on inlet or exhaust.

SOURCE: Junkers gas water heater automatic ignition not working

Yes that is going to be the contoll valve on that heater. You can probley fix it very easy with the right part. You will need to locate a plumbing supply over there in the UK. Give them the make and model number and tell them you need a unitroll gas valve for it.

Do you have power to the heater? If you do then I would look for a hi limit switch to reset. It might be the pump you have to reset.

Check all your limit switches on this unit. One of them is either tripped or bad.

SOURCE: richman gas lp tankless hot water heater. used for

I had the same problem with my Paloma a year and a half after installation...contacted Rheem\Paloma\Richman customer service (800-432-8373) and they recommened a local installer in my area. The technican diagnosed the problem as the "flow control valve"; he managed to get Rheem/Paloma to cover the part under warranty...I only had to shell out the money for the install.

I got a 7 year old aosmith water heater and it wont fire up it has a itelli- vent gas value the innighter is on but noflame

Troubleshoot resources for power vented water heaters and intellivent gas control valve on following link:
http://waterheatertimer.org/power-vent-water-heater-troubleshoot.html#intellivent

Your hot surface igniter has to be lined up in front of a gas port ... if no gas is coming out, the intellivent gas control valve should shut down heater and cycle for several attempts before issuing error code ... sounds like gas control is bad..

Boiler won't ignite for hot water unless heating is on.

If this is in a RV the propane monitoring valve may require more gas flow to turn on than the water heater requires. A central heating system requires substantial gas flow so when the monitoring valve opens to fire the central heating, there is enough gas flow to also fire the water heater.

Rheem-Tankless-water-heater I am showing a C2 then 11 flashing on my thermostate. what is wrong.

Before calling service technician, open following links for common error codes, Rheem chat, and possible manual.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Rheem-Tankless-water-heater.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/ErrorcodeTroubleshooting.pdf
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Tankless-maintenance.pdf

Error codes are start point for troubleshoot.
C2 11 is 'no ignition' or 'gas shut off vale is not open'
Gas shut off valve handle must sit parallel with gas line.
This kind of error code can be air in gas line, improper grounding at electrical outlet, bad igniter, shorted solenoid, loose connections, etc.
Most tankless manuals recommend yearly service, and that type of work usually covers cause for most common error codes: for example checking gas pressure, gas line, air in gas line, clean and check burner and combustion parts and igniter, inspect that vent condensate is properly draining and vent has good draft, clean water filter, clean air intake, check for loose wires, delime heat exchanger, test outlet with circuit analyzer etc.

I have an A. O. Smith Model FPSH 40-261 hot water heater. It won't heat water. there is a green light on the control flashing. What does it mean?

AO Smith uses the Honeywell ICON gas valve with green indicator light.
Some models use White Rodgers Intellivent with a row of indicator lights.

The gas control blinks the error code:

Automatic restart is not working. Seems to keep saying eco problem...I thinl...the code is four flashes followed by two flashes.

Gas control valve is not identified, so error code is not known.
ECO means energy cut off.
Energy cut off happens when gas control valve thermostat has gone bad, or when gas control senses runaway heating inside combustion chamber.
Newer heaters have resettable ECO for combustion overheat. This reset is typically located on combustion chamber door and is round and has two wires that connect back to gas control. Generally you have to clean combustion chamber and tubes and catch up on maintenance, then reset ECO, then fire up heater again to see if problem is resolved.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-install-gas-water-heater.html#troubleshoot
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/Typical-gas-valve-500.jpg

Newer heater does not have reset for bad thermostat, and in that case you replace gas control valve thermostat.
Older heater does not have reset, and combustion chamber and parts are cleaned, and gas control valve thermostat is replaced.
Your manual is best place to start troubleshoot.
Open following link to help identify gas control valve:

No hot water. Constant beeping at the tank. Tempature gauge flashing 11.

Before calling service technician, open following links for Rheem troubleshoot resources including Rheem chat and typical service manual and typical product manual.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Rheem-Tankless-water-heater.html

Error codes are start place for troubleshooting:
Error 11 is 'gas is inadequate' or 'ignition failure'
Open gas valve so handle is parallel with gas line.
Bleed air from gas lines.
Check that appliance is grounded.
Check igniter wires and harness for damage.
Check that vertical vent length does not exceed limit.
Other causes: Gas inlet solenoid valve, bad igniter, solenoid valve, flame rod.

Rheem tankless water heater wont lite

the system was not sized properly, you need to have a 3/4 gas line to the unit for the volume of gas it needs, the tankless water heaters need to have every bit of gas that is says, it sounds like who ever installed di not make sure you had enough gas comming in the house, you might have to either have a new meter installed or run the gas lind directly from the meter to the water heater and cap off the gas line thats there
