SOURCE: How do you override the FD in the Display of the Amana PTAC

I just had that problem of having fd display and it locks everything up. makes sure you check the ds1 and ds2 and ms1 and ms2 if these are shorted then you will get that problem. I had to wiggle the wires in the connector and it worked as soon as i pushed on the right wire. They apparently are very sensitive.

When I try to plugin My Amana ptac it blow breaker .What could be the reason.

You have a shorted unit. Check the compressors, condensing motors, and the indoor fan motor. Replace defective parts found from the unit.

Problem with GE PTAC-Model# AZ28E09DABM2 - Why won't condenser kick on when switching to AC from Fan. AC was working fine until today...Fan is still working...Pulled the unit out and could feel the h

Hummm. A bit difficult to solve this problem. Seems like the condenser outside is not working, I mean the fan of the condenser. Looks like you have a wall A/C and a wall A/C always have condensers outside the house and near the A/C. Have you checked if the fan is spinning? I don't think the compressor is at fault but check it anyway. You should be able to hear the compressor running either in the wall unit or in the outside condenser housing. The only heat you should feel is from the condenser itself. If you blows warm air, that means the fan is working, if not that means the fan is not working. But don't be confused with the fan not working because in winter time sometimes the fan is not working and some times it does. As I said, it's a difficult problem to solve but at least start with checking the situation with the fan in the condenser.

I have no heat (fan runs when called for) Diagnostic test came back clear. Ptac is just over 1 year old.

Hi; If the fan comes on and there is no heat. First I am guessing this unit has touch pad instead of the old fasion push button selector. If unit has touch pad then I would check for a clean filter first. Then this unit is equiped with safety features for the compressor as well as the heat strips. If You are spiffy with a test meter and hand tools You can check for any burnt or loose connections(with unit unpluged from recepticle). If all seems well a connected please for the love of GOD call a repairman. The reason being checking safety features is a job You dont want to tackle without honned skills.

Amana ptac- blows same temperature air whether its set at 80 or 65...any ideas?

Check to see if your compressor is running. Thre are 5/16 screws on either side of the unit holding it to the case. Take those out and you can get to the cpmpressor. These are not complicated units but you may have to have a service tech look at it for you. I do sell a lot of these PTAC units so if your compressor is running you have leak or bad compressor. Russ

Will not switch to cool mode. heat and fan work fine

hi,
regarding on switch mode theres a common line between heating and cooling although fan is always connect on them.,also with the thermostat, the sequence on this when you switch to cooling and your connection is on heater, the contactor will shift to compressor source,so if there is no cooling, the contactor supplying the compressor is not functioning when you switch on cool mode.try to tighten screw on compressor relay maybe only loose.on control panel,or check continuity of compressor if the compressor still good, check also the freon charge using clamp ammeter, this should be done by ac technician.have a nice day
rate me up,thank's
