I have the Aq-4000 filter. When I tried to change the filters the blue cover is so tight that I cannot loosen it. (The white is fine.) I'm worried that pliers might break the plastic. Advice?

I don't know what your filter is but with plastic covers sometimes a little heat can help. Try heating with a blow dryer or hot water

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

Your filter of the water inlet valve is accessible outside the machine; it is at the water entry point. Close your faucet & check this out; this gets clogged often.

Hope i am helpful...... Click on 'thanks for trying' if not helped, your prob will be back for someone else to solve.

SOURCE: Unable to loosen and unscrew kitchen faucet screen...

If you have a lime problem, try soaking the tip in boiling water with vineger added to it. The acetic acid in the vineger disolves the lime. I did it just last week when I serviced my kitchen faucet. It may take quite a while for the lime to disolve, but in the end you will achieve your goal.

It is very hard to turn, but it will come loose, a cut off allen wrench attached to a pipe works great, as there is no clearance to do it any other way. Have at it cause the allen bolt is pretty hefty.

What direction do you turn a culligan big blue water filter cover to remove it

Always turn to the left to loosen, right to tighten (righty tighty, lefty loosey). Look at the tips section for loosening stubborn filter housings.

Need a diagram of oil change on a 2005 Chevy Cavalier

You probably have the 2.2L ecotec engine. The oil filter is what they call a canister filter. It is located just below the fill cap under a cap/housing with a 36mm head. The o-ring on the housing/cap should be replaced with the filter. The drain plug is on the bottom of the engine on the oil pan and can be loosened with a wrench (either 13mm or 15mm depending on which drain plug was installed at the factory)

I have a 2006 Buick Lucerne 3800 that I think has started to take exessive oil. it has 48000 miles and will take a quart in abot 4000 miles. I know thats not alot but at 24000 miles it didn't take a quart...

It should be minimal between oil changes. Even at 5,000 mile intervals you shouldnt see hardly any consumption. My 04 Avalanche has 88,000 and I just changed mine at 5K and didnt see any consumption. Look at the filter and drain plug on the pan and see if either of them are loose. Inspect around valve covers for leaks as well.

Unfortunately, the dealership will be a waste of time They will tell you that is normal and not to worry about it.

Oil Filter

Hi, their are a couple of options you have you can buy a oil filter remover tool that goes all the way round the oil filter to undo it.

They get pretty tight over time as the heat from the engine welds them on so can be difficult to loosen.

If you are using the removing tool then dont worry about breaking the filter as it will come off broken or not.

The other option you have is stab a thick screwdriver threw the filter so it comes out the other side you will get some oil coming out of the hole so put bucket under neath, now with the screw driver stabbed through try undoing it slightly.
With the screwdriver stabbed through it this should give you more leverage and loosen slightly once loosened remove screwdriver then undo by hand.

It dont matter if you damage the filter just make sure you have something under neath as it has about half a liter of oil in it.

They do get stuck tight but it will undo dont worry about breaking it as you will be replacing with a new one.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok.

How to change air filters on 2007 Mercedes C230 Sport

I have '05, both should be similar:
1.Cabin air filter is located above battery on right side against firewall.
Release three latches, remove filter housing, slide old filter out (housing is flexible), insert new
one, reinstall housing.
2.Engine air filter is on the left side of the block (follow intake hose). Cover is retained with six screws
(six point star shape,I belive called Torox, bit/scredriver size 25). Loosen screws (don' t pull all the
way out of the cover) lift cover , and remove old filter. Insert new one, reinstall cover. DO NOT
OVERTORQUE SCREWS! Screw holes in plastic filter housing strip very easily.
Note: Intake hose is very flimsy, one on my car came apart and had to be replaced.

Changing the water filter in my Frigidaire

My Frigidaire PureSource water filter housing wouldn't unscrew either. Even with the supplied plastic "wrench" and later a cloth-covered pipe wrench, it wouldn't budge. Since both my icemaker and my door dispenser stopped dispensing water, and the filter housing in the fridge wouldn't budge, I suspected that the filter was full of frozen water. (Sometimes things on the top shelf of the fridge freeze, so it was obviously too cold.) I used a hair dryer on the water filter housing for a few minutes, and then the water filter unscrewed easily. Sure enough, the whole inside was a block of frozen water.

This would have been such a simple repair, HOWEVER unfortunately it turned out that I wrenched it too hard and broke the inlet valve on the housing. As soon as I thawed out the filter and reassembled, water was pouring out of the top. Took off the big cover at the top ceiling of the fridge and saw my problem.

It's only about a $25 part, but I'd advise that you be careful to only turn, without rocking back and forth, the housing when trying to unscrew. I guess I wiggled it back and forth too much and cracked it.
