I have a Sportop E820 Plus trainer and need an electric power adapter. Where can I purchase one? At the back of the trainer, low on what is the back wheel is an opening for a plugin.

You'll need to know how much current is required. That may be on a label on the unit, and is supposed to be on the original adapter. For example, the adapter label may read "Output 9 V 650 mA" This means the output current rating of the new adapter must be at least 650 mA (0.65 Amps). It can be greater (e. g., 1.0 A), but it will burn out or not work if the current rating is too small. Also, check whether it is 9 VAC or 9 VDC. Choosing the wrong one may damage your device.

The other specification you need is the size of the power plug on the adapter. The three numbers are the length of the metal barrel, the outside diameter of the barrel and the inside diameter. These are almost always measured in millimeters. Be careful when measuring the inside diameter; the difference between 2.1 mm and 2.5 mm is significant! You may have to use drill bits as a gauge, or carefully sand down a fat round toothpick until it just goes in, then measure the diameter of the toothpick (it's usually hard to measure the pin in the jack with a caliper or other measuring device, and the tiny barrel is also difficult to directly measure accurately).

Once you know what you need, you can shop for it at electronics supply stores such as Mouser Electronics, MCM-Newark, or Digi-Key. I haven't checked to see whether Wal-mart carries wall wart adapters. If you shop for them online, look in the "power supply/wall adapter" category. Mouser and Digi-Key have parametric search filters that let you use the numbers you obtained to quickly find what you need.
