My pioneer avhP2400bt car stereo is losing sound and getting really hot....what could be the issue?

One problem with modern vehicles is that the Body Control Modules monitors the stereo because it does other features, like giving warning sounds via the speakers. Playing with wires is not wise because the BCM uses a 5 volt computer network to relay data and it sounds like you may have given it 12 volts?

Not sure what kind of car you have but,,, just for the heck of it, when you turn on your lights , try turning your interior dimmer all the way up. If the radio works again, then you have it powered from the wrong wire in the dash. It needs to go to a constant hot (12V) and Accy/ignition (12V) and not to a lighting wire which would power the back lighting of a factory radio.

the cd player is old and its giveing out when the pre amp gets hot u should get a pioneer old or new they stand up to anything

Try Checking Your Wire Harness On Pioneers They Intend To Get Loose inside Plug In From Stereo Or Changer Getting Hot

If you really want more treble just invest on some tweeters...you can get a pair of 400 watt on ebay for less than $10 shipped...great way to improve sound clarity at a cheap price.

SHOULD BE YOUR STEREO. PIONNERS ARE ALWAYS GOOD JUST MAKE SURE HOW MUCH WATT'S IT PUTS OUT.

ok u have 8 wires because the other wire is just a ground.as long as u ground the other wires u should be fine. ok the wire that is marked ign. wire may be your mem.wich usally hooks to an orange wire the hot wire u have is just what it says hot that comp. at the end i blieve was a fuse .it sounds like the other part is missing.
