My best guess is it needs a new igniter harness, Though it could be the igniter module. Resistance testing of the igniter switches on the igniter harness would tell you which. Part # PE070818

Juliac, the burner valve switch for that burner is either shorted or grounding out. Each burner control has a valve switch that controls the power to the igniter. Sometimes they just get full of gunk and short. Part number is PA020015. Catriver...post back.

The clicking is the electrode arcing. when the burner lights, a sensor tells the electrode to stop sparking after is heats up a little, that's why is clicks a little after the burner lights, but then stops. If the spark keeps going, the sensor is not registering the flame. The ones that do not click could be the ignite coil, the wire, or the electrode.

SOURCE: Clicking noise on cooktop even when all burners ignite

I have a viking gas cooktop. The ignitor on one of my front burners wouldn't stop clicking even after the flame ignited. I swapped that ignitor with the ignitor from a back burner, expecting that the problem was with the ignitor and that the back burner would start to click incessantly, but at least I'd have my favorite front burner for use. Instead, the front burner was then only clicking 50% of the time and the back burner was fine, suggesting the problem was related to the burner not the ignitor. I pulled the front ignitor a bit away from the burner and now it is working normally. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: viking stove ignitor

the continues to click problem, for e it was only when my smaller burner was lit. theo others were ok. When I took the burner apart it was very dirty. I cleaned it up (a wire brush in my drill press) and it works fine now. I think it was just bad electrical conduction.

SOURCE: Viking range top 2 burners won't light

Either the igniters are at fault (which is usually the case when one or two are not working) or the entire oven ignition system needs to be replaced and can be done through Viking themselves whether you want them to replace it or you yourself replace it, you can get the part through them.

AGA Legacy 36 rt front burner wont stay lit

Each burner has a thing called a thermocouple. it's function is to keep the gas valve open for that burner. if for some reason the gas was to stop and restart it won't fill the house with gas. gas water heaters used them for years. anyway look for a little tube where the flame should be and replace it. take it out and take it with you. most any hardware store will have them. buy two and keep one for a spare. DO NOT PLAY GAMES AND TRY TO BY PASS THIS.

Viking range burners won't light

from I review I found it might be this...Simple replacement of Glow Bar igniter requires removal of entire front panel with many screws
so sounds like your igniter might be shot - it heats up to ignite the burners - easy fix - get a long torch lighter and just light the gas after turning it on -

Viking 6 burner, gas stove top. When the back leftburner is turned on, it continually clicks. How can we fix this?

Hello,

The electrode (spark plug) for that burner is not telling the spark module the burner is lit and go ahead and turn off the spark. That electrode and the wiring on it need to be replaced, from that burner back to the spark module.

Occasional gas smell

If you have a burner lit and gas build up, strong smell etc., my advice would be to stop using the oven immediately! You no way gas should come out, build up, to the point you smell it, Especially while a burner is lit. Dangerous condition.

Burner ignitor will not turn off after the burner lights Viking

replace the electrode that's the wire or pilot tip, it has a sensor built in, when it gets hot it stops automatically. if the electrode is between the front and rear burners, there are small holes on the burners going down on the side of the burner facing the ignition. they need to be clean. try a paper clip and insert the clip in side the holes.

Ignitor won't shut off

The Viking manual says that an ignitor that continues to try to light even after the burner has been lit indicates improper grounding, and that an electrician should be consulted.

Perhaps you could try to replace the ignitor, and see if that fixes the problem?

I have a similar age, 6-burner 36" rangetop.

Electric spark for gas range burner is non stop

Turning any knob starts the spark via a switch behind each which should disengage when the (any) knob is turn further.
One of your switches is stuck.

I think you should be able to remove the range-top for access and find the offending switch.
It is probably gummy from a spill and is no longer in solid contact with the cam that operates it.

A solvent/lubricant such as WD-40 sprayed on the plunger of the switch once you can see it and operating the knob back and forth should free it up.

It might be wise to turn off the gas supply while tinkering with the range - blow your house away and the range won't matter. :-(
