If the battery is dead because of something like leaving the ignition on then you might be able to just recharge it and it will still be good. If its old and just doesnt have the life left you should just replace it with a new battery. Remove the seat to access the battery. If you are not sure if you should charge it or replace it you can take it to any larger chain brand auto parts store. They will run a diagnostic on the battery for free and tell you if its good or bad in hopes of selling you a new battery. If its bad they will sell you a comparable battery, keep in mind the testing is free so dont feel like you have to buy the battery from them. I personally only run a HD battery from the dealership but that is just my preference. Hope this answers your question.
