I already checked: My circuit 20 amp breaker Both ceramic fuses, about 0 ohms Check 1 thermal fuse, 0 ohms There is a second thermal fuse I am having trouble removing to check. What else can I check or replace? Thanks

There should be a technical sheet hidden behind the controller or behind the grille. If you can't find yours, I have uploaded a copy here at my site: http://www.microwavecontrol.com/dvm1850_jnm1851_jvm1860_jvm3670_pvm1870_pvm1871_tech_sheet.pdf

I would refer you to that and to the exploded view, which you can find by entering your full model number (from the tag on the oven) here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383, where you can find GE replacement parts at affordable prices.

From the symptoms and checks you've described, I would recommend next that you check for full continuity (virtually zero ohms) across the magnetron thermostat located at ref. 62 on the exploded view.

If that checks good, you will probably need to remove the oven from the wall so you can check the thermostat (ref. 44) for full continuity (virtually zero ohms). To aid in removing it from the wall, the installation instructions are on your model's support page.

If you still have questions, feel to free to e-mail me directly at [email protected].

SOURCE: No power from Whirlpool.

The problem was a defective switch. There are 3 switches on mine. 1 on the top door latch, and 2 on the bottom. one of the switches on the bottom connected the power and neutral together, unless it was activated at the same time as the other 2, causing the breaker to trip or the internal fuse to blow. When unhooking the wire going from this switch to the other switch, everything works great now. Though I still need to replace the switch.

And for Basic 1. Yes my microwave did have a fuse in it it's ceramic, I got a pack of them at Radio Shack 4 for 3$ 250V 20 Amp. There should be a wiring diagram inside the microwave, mine was inside a black bag, so it may be hard to see.

Mine was up top next to the fuse behind the Plastic Grill and then a small metal grill. Some are behind the control panel, to fix this remove the screw at the top and then slide the control panel up and it should unhinge.

SOURCE: Microwave oven blowing 20 amp ceramic fuse

Chances are if the varistor fails, it fails drastically causing a short circuit across the supply. It will sit across the supply (it will look like a thick ceramic capacitor) and you can check for continuity after isolating that at one end. If it shows low resistance (it should show almost open circuit with a Digital meter), replace it.

It need not be the culprit. If you are familiar working with High voltage circuits ( they are lethal inside a microwave ovens as the current capability is high here), you can discharge the doubler capacitor and isolate the high voltage diode to check for shorts in the HT area.

SOURCE: GE jvm187osf02 microwave loses power

It may be a blown fuse or the thermal cutout (T.C.O.) or thermostat on the magnetron or on top of the oven cavity.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Accessing some components (especially the oven cavity thermostat) for testing and possible replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall and take off the outer cover.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

"ge spacemaker microwave oven model jvm1530"

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

How to open GE microwave and check fuse?

In all likelihood the mangnetron has failed, or perhaps even the Power Supply. or a fault that is shutting the system down for safety reasons You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man. Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.

GE Sensor Microwave JES1855 died

Mine went dead after about 6 months. I had problems with my breakers and I found out that it was the microwave that blew all of them. I also found out that this perticular microwave is a fire hazard and should be recalled. It has caused me alot of headache. The breakers in my house are brand new and they are put out by GE also. It caused me to loose the food in my freezer, I did not know my freezer had lost power. It would cause my entire lights to go off and then they would come back on. I have checked around and I found out that the power cord on the back of the unit is very loose. I had a person to come in and look at it, he thinks its the power cord.
