I have a jet horizontal band saw.Cuts metal. Keeps breaking blades. I think roller guides are too close to drive wheel. how can I fix it?

It has the direct drive motor on this model. The guide mount has no adjustment. Is there any kind of adapter made to get the guide furtheraway from drive wheel?

SOURCE: can't get pin off to replace wiper blades

It's not the pin. The wiper has a small tab to press on the bottom. Press the tab and pull down on the wiper blade at the same time.

SOURCE: my 1994 regal grandsport cuts off

I had this exact problem several years ago: my car would just shut off while both braking and turning, usually on exit ramps. I got very good at shifting to neutral/turning the car off and on/shifting into drive all while suffering through the lack of power steering. It usually freaked my passengers out.

It ended up being the EGR valve, a costly but very necessary fix.

SOURCE: My driver side cv joint inner boot keeps breaking

Are you replacing the cv axle yourself. If you are going with an aftermarket axle, that may be your problem. I would recommend going back to O.E. Also, some original saturn parts may be hard to find.

SOURCE: i can hear a metal

Hello Dean.
Where on the vehicle is this noise coming from? I know it may not be easy to do as noises travel easily through the vehicles body, but I will need any help you can offer to help you.
The metal noise could be u joints, cv joints, differential bearings, transfer case.
There is a bulletin on the transfer case. here it is.

TECHNICAL
Bulletin No.: 08-04-21-001B
Date: August 25, 2008
Subject:
NVG 126/226 Transfer Case Grating/Grinding Noise When 4WD is Engaged, Service 4WD Lamp On, DTC C0327 Set (Replace Clutch Pressure Plate Bearing Assembly and Clutch Lever) Models:
2004-2007 Buick Rainier
2002-2008 Chevrolet TrailBlazer Models
2002-2008 GMC Envoy Models
2002-2004 Oldsmobile Bravada
2005-2008 Saab 9-7X with Four-Wheel Drive or All-Wheel Drive and Active All-Wheel Drive (RPO NP4) or Active Two-Speed (NP8) Transfer Case
Built Prior to September 18, 2007 (NVG 126) or September 21, 2007 (NVG 226) Supercede:
This bulletin is being revised to update the correction information to include a procedure to reindex the transfer case encoder motor (actuator). This procedure is being provided to help reduce unnecessary warranty expenses. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 08-04-21-001A (Section 04 - Transmission/Transaxle).
Condition
Some customers may comment on a grinding type noise in the transfer case when 4WD is engaged in either AUTO or 4WD mode. This noise may also be accompanied by the SERVICE 4WD lamp being illuminated and DTC C0327 set.
This condition is more prevalent on vehicles where 4WD is continuously used.
Cause
This noise may be caused by a faulty clutch pressure plate bearing.

A more robust clutch pressure plate bearing, inner plate and clutch lever has been released for service. Replace the clutch pressure plate bearing, inner plate and clutch lever. Refer to the Transfer Case Disassemble and Transfer Case Assemble procedures in SI. Former and new parts should not be intermixed during transfer case overhaul and they are to be used in sets only.
DO NOT replace the transfer case assembly unless extensive internal damage has occurred.
Important: When the clutch pressure plate bearing fails, it causes the clutch lever to over-travel, allowing the transfer case encoder motor (actuator) to rotate to an invalid position. Engineering has developed a tool and procedure to reindex the transfer case encoder motor (actuator) so it can be reused.

There is more to the bulletin but this gives you an idea of a possibility of the noise.

Also when in 4WD and when the road surface is hard with good traction it is normal to feel the binding. Especially when you are turning. The reason for this is all the wheels do not necessarily turn at the same speed or distance and the drivetrain will "wind up" crating pressure in the driveline.
The use of 4 wheel drive should be used only on surfaces where the tires can 'slip" allowing the binding to release.

There you are, I hope it helps you towards a repair.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Band saw blade keeps coming off

Set up your band saw properly. There are several reason why band saw blade keeps on coming off on the wheels: loose/wear tire, improper guide adjustment, incorrect tension, over feeding wood stock or the problem could be on the blade itself. Try to change your blade, I got my band saw blades on sawblade.com . I suggest you watch band saw tune up tutorial videos on youtube. Hope that helps.

Tire comes off top wheel almost all the time. Tire comes off bottem wheel sometimes. Don't know how to set up this saw.

My jet bandsaw did same thing only fix was new tires .Tires are supposed to be tite on wheel .get wood dowels between tire and wheel and roll new tire onto wheel. If desperate could glue on with weather strip adhesive.put bandsaw blade on both tires spin wheels with power off till blade is running in center of wheel by adjusting top wheel in or out. When done adjust blade guides to blade and bearings to back of blade .This is top and bottom of cutting area

Mt 18 inch horizontal band saw is not cutting square

Thicker metal shows greater blade / saw adjustment errors. A simple 1/64 or 1/32 wont show much on an 1/8 thick piece of metal when cut.
Those numbers will double quickly as the cutting blade travels through thick metal.
Metal band saws seem to be trickier to adjust and fine tune because the blade seems to be twisted into the roller guides.
The downloaded manual for the saw that looked most like mine at grizzly.com helped my adjustments a lot.
The saw quality is also a factor.

Where is the tracking adjustment on the Craftsman 12inch Tilt Head Bandsaw?

The tracking adjustment is on the top wheel in the middle-spin the wheel by hand ( please make sure its unplugged first ) if the blades moves towards the front of the saw turn 1/4 turn clockwise and turn counterclockwise if its going the other way. remember that alot of things can cause your blade not to track right. I would back off all guides and rollers, top and bottom, adjust the tracking -then move guides and rollers back in. also the rule of thumb on your guides is not to touch the blade but to be as close as possible-make sure they are both even-set back 1/32 from the gulliet i.e the deepest part of the blade teeth. One other thing is the bearing in the back(back up bearing) should not touch the blade when wood is NOT going through (set it close, but not touching).

Sorry for the long answer but I've been there-get the manual and it shows it alot better.

I cannot get the blade to track correctly on my JET 12" band saw. What could be wrong? I have done exactly what the manual says to do. I am not sure the square box on the outside is fitting. The little arm...

i love bandsaws, they are one of best and most universal woodworking machines, used as well in food and metal industries.

now, what you should know about bandsaw that it have several points of regulations and all of them must be adjusted correctly. basic "anatomy" of bandsaw is that it have body, in it there is driving wheel (bottom) and tension wheel (top), both of these are protected by rubber "tyre" usually crowned, that allow for bette adjustment and protect teeth on the band.

start with tension, open covers, retract top (above the table) and bottom (below the table) guides so blade is not touching the rear bearing or side slides.

1. rotate top wheel and see where blade is wandering, regulate tension and tilt on the wheel till band position itself on the centre of the top wheel and cuttin edge is off the wheel or rubber and do not touch the wheel or raiser.
2. cut strip of paper and slide top guide towards the blade till bearing touch blade through the paper (paper thickness is about correct distance of bearing to the blade), allowing paper to be slided out without tension. lock it in.
3. insert paper on internal side of the blade and slide internal slide guide block till you can only pull the paper out, lock the slider.
4. repeat previous operation on external guide block and after you slide paper out, lock it in position.
5. manually rotate the tension wheel, should operate freely, without wandering
6. repeat step 2 to 5 on the bottom guide
7. close the covers
8. adjust hight of the guide suitable to cut , allowing about 2 finger breaths above the cut piece.
9. switch on the bandsaw and switch off, after it stop, check for tension, switch on and make test cut.

this general rule applies to all bandsaw, regardless of brand, make, vintage. do remember that this is not a toy, it will cut through, wood, metal and your fingers...

do remember, that these operations must be performed every time when you change the blade, to not forget to use bit of silicone or teflon spray if you cut very sappy or green wood, do not press and force, use protection screen and googles, you have only two eyes and there are no spares...

HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE BLADE AND TIGHTEN IT UP THE BAND BLADE CAME OFF & I DONT KNOW HOW TO GET IT BACK ON

Unplug it. Open the cover(s). Find the tensioning knob - this is usually right on top, and it is raises the top wheel (or ins some cases an idler wheel) - thereby tightening the blade. Lower the top wheel by turning the tensioning knob a few turn counter-clockwise. This will give you enough slack to re-install the blade. Wear leather gloves and reinstall the blade. Tighten the tensioning knob a bit. Turn the wheel by hand a little to see that the blade tracks OK. Tighten it a bit more. The correct amount of tension pretty much has to be determined by trial and error. If the blade comes off, or bends too much while you try to cut, or cuts poorly, then it's too loose. If you over-tighten it you can break the blade or prematurely wear out your machine. Close the cover and plug it back in. You can adjust the tension with the cover closed, and you can even tighten it while the saw is running. But I wouldn't loosen it while the saw is running.

My KING KC-115C Horizontal metal cutting band saw cuts off track.

I used to work for Doall saw company. While I am not familiar with the particular model you have, I have seen issues like it in Doall saws.
Firstly, If bearing guides are not adjustable, replace them. There should be only about a 32 of an inch play between them (in addition to the thickness of the blade). Secondly, for a prodution horizontal bandsaw you should have the blade tensioned a @30,000 psi. Thirdly, if after that, you are still having problems, I would suggest checking the bearings on your drive and idler wheels for runout (in addition to the condition of the tires).

Problems with my band saw bs100

Look for any gouges in the metal surface that have metal projecting above the milled surface. Also, file or grind away any sharp edges along the miter gauge track. If the cut surface is very irregular, the blade may have overly coarse teeth, or the blade guide rollers may not be holding the blade firmly allowing the blade to wander while cutting. Hope this helps.

Band Saw Blade won't stay on

A lot of the larger band saws, and I don't know about your particular model, has an ajustment on the bottom wheel that tilts the wheel in order to track the blade. It is right at the axle and tilts it from there.  If the back guide is a roller bearing I woud think you would want to roll all of the time.  If a solid bearing block natually a small space where it  will not hit is enough.
