Sony Bravia KLV-40W300A power just switches off. No warning lights, if left for approx 12 hours it can be switched back on. Is this caused by overheating or could it be more serious.

If TV does not remain in standby and turns on itself then power switch on top of it could be defective and power supply board is also suspected. Take off its back cover and unplug top switch connector just to confirm is that cause of On-Off its own. If problem still exist then power supply board has problem and will be replaced. Let me know the results to move forward.

If you bought it brand new from a dealer, I would take it back or have them come out and look at it. Less than a month old, it is still under the 1 year MFG warranty or the very best a 30 day one.
