Dell E6410 (and others in that series) have a wifi slider switch on the right side of the laptop above the audio input/output jacks. When it shows red it's off.
Other Latitudes have the switch in a different place, like in front on the left or on the left side.
For any of them there should be an antenna looking symbol on or next to it.

(It's great to use if you think you got connected to a site that is downloading malware, turn off the wifi immediately.)
Go to settings, then connectivity, then wireless, then wi fi should be an option if it has wifi. To check for signal and ability to use wifi, you then need to select turn wifi on,then scan devices,a list of one or more will come up showing eachs signal strength by bars on wifi symbol, also will have listed which are available by showing a padlock on ones that require password, some will be open if available
Step 1: Find out which is YOUR WiFi network. People who live in cities and such can pick up their neighbor's WiFi connection. Make sure you pick your own by going to your computer, and click on the internet icon on your taskbar (where they show the time). This will show your network's name. Go to your iPod and choose it.
Step 2: If your network has no lock symbol next to it, wait for a few minutes and a check will show next to your network once it is connected - you should be able to go on the web now. If your network has a lock symbol on it, tap it and enter the correct password. Once the correct password is entered, wait for a minute and your iPod should be connected to the network - you should then be able to go on the web.
On a laptop your wifi on off button should be on the side, it will show a little tv symbol with small arches and on the other side a little tv symbol with no arches. The one with the arches means you can get the signal and you will have to change the switch to that one. If this does not work, it is possible that you computer does not have a built in wireless adapter and you may need to purchase one. If there is a slot on the side of your computer that is PCMCIA slot, you may need to put an adapter in there. You can purchase them on ebay for as little as $10, however in the store you could be looking at $40 to $70. Cheers.
