How can I diagnose if my TV's main board is bad?

SOURCE: Main Power Board

The power supply board can be changed without any knowledge of repair but there are sometimes adjustments necessary if the picture is not normal. Many times it is fine. There a 4-5 voltage adjustments that would take some knowledge and a meter to accomplish. You need to hope it was diagnosed properly first. If it is completely dead the p.s is a good possibility. If it clicks on then back off almost immediately it is not likely the power supply.

SOURCE: I have a non-functional Sharp LC-32D62U (32") TV.

It would be possible if you can go into service menu and write all settings and implement with the new board by going back in and changing what you wrote down.

Stop the bleeding and replace the TV, I read this type of story so often, it is sad.

A lightning strike can be up to 125,000 volts and that will damage every single component inside a television, especially the Integrated Circuits. The fact you are getting some life out of it is encouraging, but bundle it up and take it to a local television technician. They have all the test equipment and the knowledge that you don't have. Also, your new board may be faulty. They are not guaranteed and can't be returned unless you are a registered technician. Normally, you would just claim on your home insurance and have it repaired or replaced.

I have a SHARP LC65le645u TV model. The tv wont power on anymore. It has the standby blue light on when plugged in but wont turn on. is it the main board?
The only thing the main board does as far as a set turning off and on is supply the power supply on voltage (PSON) to the power supply board, if your getting a change on that pin then the main is doing its job if not your main is bad

It's either the main board or power supply.. if there isn't a voltage on the 3 or 5 volt standby the power board is bad if the PSON voltage doesn't change with the off and on button pushed, it should either be low and go high when the power button is pushed or be high and go low..that varies with every set...if you don't get a variance then chances are its the main board .

It could be the main board. Suggest you call Sharp, talk with a tech. S/he will be able to interpret what you are describing into a cause for failure. If it is a main board, they are quite easy to replace in most TVs, once you take the back of the TV off, just a few screws and 3 or so cables to disconnect to remove the board. Once you have the back off and have identified the main board (or power board or whatever board Sharp tells you is bad), visit:

Sharp power opc light blinking three times
The code that is flashing usually points to a main board failure. I would recommend getting it diagnosed. If you want to be gutsy and try and replace the main board yourself, MAKE SURE YOU GET A BOARD THAT MATCHES YOUR PART # EXACTLY. Sharp makes several revisions of main boards for various models, and they ARE NOT compatible.

Our picture on our Sharp LC-32AV22U 32 in. LCD TV fades to green and red and then it fades out completely. Does this indicate our tv tube is losing power?
It can be due to bad T-CON board or the main board is bad, you will need in-depth troubleshooting which will require service manual. Or you can try board swapping, starting with the T-CON board since it will be cheaper than the main board. If it needs the main board you may want to put the money toward a new TV instead.
