SOURCE: No Sound on TV??
I would borrow a set of external speakers to see if I could get sound from the sound circuit at all, if not, then it sounds like the repair shop.
SOURCE: No Picture from Component Input #1 or #2 but do have audio via Surrond Sound
Simplest thing would be that your component cables are not HU'd correctly. Having them reversed would do this.

SOURCE: Sound is not recorded
Make sure that the your audio wiring is correct. The L&R audio cables from your VCR, etc should be connected to the red and white RCA jacks on the capture card cable. The small 3.5 mm phone jack from the capture card cable must then be plugged into your PC's line-in jack - usually blue. Then in the PVR application, select line-in as your source. This is necessary because the capture card only processes video. The audio signal is passed through to your PC.

SOURCE: XBox 360 to Reciever to TV via HDMI no sound
I recently got the same receiver and had the same problem. Here's what I was told - and it worked for me:
Even though HDMI cables carry audio and video, for whatever reason this reciever won't accept audio through hdmi. Apparently only much more expensive recievers carry audio through hdmi. What you have to do is run optical audio cables from your xbox, cable box, dvd player or other video device to the optical inputs on the back of the reciver. Then you customize the scene buttons to match your video and audio inputs.
You can get these optical cables pretty cheap on line or even at target. Don't get ripped off by Best Buy for these cables. I love best buy, but they rip off on cables!
This receiver is great - once I got it all figured out and running right I've loved it! Hope everything works out for you!
