SOURCE: 2000 dodge diesel 3500 6 speed manual

I am going through this now my 2000 ram 3500 always had a problem with reverse

I chocked it up to a quirk of the transmission! But my mechanic found out that they only placed this trans in late 1999 and early 2000 trucks first years the 6 speed was offered. It comes with a smaller clutch and synchronizer that are no longer available unless you find a dealer with old stock sitting on a shelf. I am having to updated my cultch and am having to replace the gears that will allow the new type synchronizer to work this in just a about ½ the price of a new transmission BOHICA/FUBAR

So just get ready for a shock if you need to replace synchronizer rings

If this was electronic in nature the light would be on. No you have a mechanical fault in the transmission and it sounds like you will need to overhaul it.

I changed the gear box of my 2007 corolla about 5 months ago. Then I noticed the car jerks or kind of pushes forward whenever i change my gear from park/neutral to drive or reverse. Please what do you...

A delay of more than a second in shifting from the neutral to drive or reverse gear, could mean that there is a problem with the transmission. If on changing from a neutral or park position to the drive or reverse gear, the car does not immediately catch the gear and move forward or backward, then it could mean a problem in the transmission. If you change gears, and you hear a sudden clunk or sudden jolt or shudder, then the shifting is not smooth and there could be a problem with the gearbox. If the engine rpm keeps increasing but there is no increase in the speed, then it could be a sign of the transmission slipping. Most automatic transmission systems, nowadays, have a check engine light or an OD light, which flashes if there is a problem with the engine.

I have a 97 GMC Sierra 4x4 1500 automatic transmission and it won't shift into reverse it does fine in all other gears. My dad said he looked at it and one of the bands is stretched out, but i asked the...

There is no band for reverse in this transmission and there is no shift solenoid function in reverse. There are a couple things that can cause a no reverse problem.#1 problem with the reverse input clutches such as burned or damaged clutches and/or leaking drum.#2The other most common problem is a stripped reaction shell although you usually loose 2nd and 4th gear when that happens. If you have good neutral, all 4 forward gears and the transmission is full of fluid then I would say that the bearing between the input drum and reverse input drum has failed and there are pieces of bearing stuck in the reverse drum and keeping the clutches from applying. No simple fix here and dont waste your money on fluid and filter or a shift solenoid.Time for an overhaul.Let me know if I can help.

Hi, I have a 1998 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4, automatic transmission, has had problems for quite awhile shifting from second to third and now reverse is out. Shifting solenoid?

Hello, I see you are having a transmission problem. I sorry to be the bearer of bad news.It seems as though you may have already known it but the problem that you have had with second gear, could have been a servo bad but with reverse going out it may be the servo an band in the trans. It will need to be overhauled, in my opinion, since the transmission must now come out. Please rate my answer, Thank you.
