I have a Vizio P502ui-B1E that just recently started to cause problems. While playing games, half of my TVs screen became had static, but the sound worked fine. I proceeded to turn off the display, but when I tried to turn it back on there was no image displayed. The LED indicator that the TV turned on/off lit up but there was no image... I used a flashlight when the display was 'technically' on but there was nothing being displayed. I inspected the boards, but I don't see any burst capacitors or burn marks. I think the problem might be the T-con board, but I am not certain. I don't believe I heard any pops when the screen turned half static in this instance, but as a side note, I've heard and saw my TV pop in the distant past (sometimes it popped at random times, but usually would pop when switching the resolution inputted to the display from 1080 to 4K). I attached a pic of my TV's issue right before it stopped displaying an image. Please help me figure out what part I need to replace so I don’t have to replace all motherboards... Thanks for any help!

If there is sound; the odds are you have a bad Tcon board. Try reseating the ribbons on the Tcon to see it make any difference.

Hi there! This could be as a result of several boards. Y-sus, Z-Sus or power supply. One would need to check that all the relevant Voltages on the power supply are actually present. Next would be to check the Fuses on either Y or Z-Sus boards. The board with the fuse blown would most likely be the one at fault. However it blows for a reason so replacing the fuse on these boards will probably not help. But it is worth a shot. If all else fails refer to a repairer. If you can get the boards and want to try doing it yourself it may or may not prove to be successful. Please beware of HIGH CURRENT before you proceed. Best Wishes and Good Luck, JUS004

Check all of your ground screws on the boards that you replaced. Sounds like that once the set is getting hot, the board is expanding and shorting out on the screws.

Those sets use LED backlights and the lights are driven to max luminosity. The individual LED failures cause the whole unit to cease

I have a Vizio p502ui-b1e that I believe was hit by lightning during a storm. The light at the bottom right comes on then flashes but there is no backlight and no picture. I'm not sure if my issues are the...

This is unfortunately a not uncommon problem that others have told me about and Vizio only advised them to buy another television.

Struck by lightning is highly unlikely.
