I need to factory reset my TV and I don't have the remote and front panel is locked. What do I do?

Hi Amanda , Please give the brand and model number of the TV.

Amanda, unplug it for about two hours. That should blank the memory of the TV. When you plug it back in it should go to the setup screen, and the front panel will be unlocked. If it does not go to the setup screen, unplug it for even longer.

SOURCE: front panel locked and remote don't work

Are you sure there is not a problem with the TV set? The set will need to be on to unlock the front panel. Bypassing the V-Chip Lock on most Mitsubishi sets use a four-digit passcode that is required to view a V-Chip locked program, view the locked TV, cancel the lock, or enter the V-Chip lock menus. If you don't have the passcode, it is easy to bypass. This is neccessary if you forgot the code, purchased the set used, or if you simply don't feel like searching through your files to find it. To bypass the V-chip: You can view the locked shows by pressing the number 9 and QV buttons on the remote at the same time, whenever your passcode is requested. This process temporarily unlocks the TV. To reset the code: When you use the button combination 9 and QV while entering the V-Chip Lock menu, this process deletes your old passcode and prompts you to enter a new passcode. Good Luck

SOURCE: DMR-ES30V remote and DVD panel buttons not responding

I assume you have fixed this by now, but if not, call panasonic's help line (number is in your owner's manual). They will walk you through the complete reset process (maybe 5 minutes). you will have to re-program everything the same as you did when it first came out of the box, but that doesn't take too long. Also, first try taking the batteries out of the remote. Make sure they are still good. Wait 60 seconds or longer, then replace batteries.

TV Sharp LC-40LE830U. My front panel ys disabled and my remote control don't work. I can power on/off only. How can I enable my front panel without use remote control? or reset factory settings?

If both your front panel and remote control are disabled, the best option would be to perform a factory reset to restore the TV to its original settings.
To reset the Sharp LC-40LE830U to factory settings:
  1. Unplug the TV from the power outlet and wait for at least 60 seconds.
  2. Press and hold the power button on the TV for 5 seconds while the TV is still unplugged.
  3. Plug the TV back in and turn it on using the power button on the TV itself.
  4. Once the TV is turned on, press and hold the "input" and "volume down" buttons on the TV simultaneously for 5 seconds.
  5. The TV will then enter the service mode menu.
  6. Press the "menu" button on the remote control to navigate through the menu and select "option."
  7. Select "factory reset" from the options menu and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset.
Note: The factory reset will erase all custom settings, including parental controls, picture, and audio settings.

How do I reset my tv without remote control?

Without the remote control, you can not do a factory reset; Can only of the hard reset. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it to reset system [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the website linked here. Cannot get AV Mode

Hi,

There is a TV/VIDEO button on frond panel of the tv. When you press each time this button then you will able to access different video inputs. if the button is inactive the probably the micro switch for TV/VIDEO button may be faulty. also check the same with the remote. If its doesn't help then try to reset the tv to factory default setting. For that you need the remote. Keep in mind that when you reset the tv to factory default setting all the memorized parameters will erased(like channel memory, personal preference setting etc ). For reseting the tv to factory default do the following

1.Turn on the TV.
2.While holding down the RESET button on the
remote control, press the POWER button on the TV front panel.
The TV will turn itself off, then back on again. Release the
RESET button

Can you turn off the FPA lock without an original remote? If so, how?

If you remember your pass word then you can use any remote that operates the TV to reset the menu selection. However if you don't remember the password, then sorry, the original remote must be used.
Below is the procedure to set up the menu for front panel lock, unlock and the password reset.

Front Panel

Selecting this option lets you lock (disable) or unlock (enable) the TV's front

panel buttons. The remote still tunes to any channel so remember to remove

access to any remote that can operate the television.

1. Choose Parental Control from the Main Menue and press the OK button.

2. Enter your passworcd.

3. Press the down arrow to highlight Front Panel.

4. Press the right or left arrow button to choose unlock (_) or lock (_).
