SOURCE: Maytag Model # LAT9635AAE

Check to see if it is a pump problem or a transmission problem. First remove both belts see if all the pullys turn freely. if the pump has a tight feel check inside pump for a item jammed in it.look for transmission oil on floor or belts if oil is present transmmision if probably going.ALSO check at the top of the tubs for anything stuk in between tubs.

SOURCE: kenmore top load (model # 110 82370120) drain problem

Good AM. I see here that you have a fairly old belt drive Kenmore washer. The real problem with these is that the parts for them are so very expensive anymore to get. A timer (which you may be needing) will run you around $100.00 to $175.00 depending on where you live. Very expensive repairs on these, but if you want to go for it, here are some hints to help. Sounds like you have one of three problems. First off PLEASE UNPLUG YOUR MACHINE BEFORE WORKING ON IT. Your timer may have lost or has a stuck contact inside (unrepairable in most cases) which is making it do something is shouldnt be doing in that area of the timer. This would probably be the most expensive of your repair. The next thing is it could be the water level switch could be going bad. This one is highly doubtful since it fills and stops filling, but I have heard (but never have seen) that they can short out sometimes and cause wacky operation. Both these issues can be fixed by remove the console rear panel and front knobs to remove both. The next item could be a defective wig-wag in the bottom of the unit. One of the positioning solinoids maybe going bad and sending bad signals back to the timer.

None of these problems are really hard to fix. And truthfully (even though some of these guys will be mad) you can sometimes find these parts on ebay for a halfway good price. Part numbers for each are:

Timer: 381860
Water Level Switch: 359712
Wig-Wag: 89814

Good luck with this one, and if you know how to use one, try to run resistance with an ohm-meter on your wig-wag to be sure your getting power flow through the soilnoids (you will have 2, be sure to unplug the solinoids before testing to be sure its a true test) before replacing.

SOURCE: washing machine smells like burning rubber!

sounds like you have a broken motor coupling while your down to the pump check for something jamming the pump here is the procedure First unplug the washer and turn off the water. If you have a shop vac take the drain hose out of the drain, and through the drain hose vacuum the water out of your washer. If you don't have a shop vac go to the auto parts store and buy a pair of radiator hose clamps . Then facing the washer locate the two screws. They will either be in the front or rear of the control panel and back them out far as you can. Once you have done that pull the control panel slightly forward, and tilt it back on the hinges. Now unplug the lid switch wire but don't forget to plug it back when your done. Next locate at the rear of the washer body the two gold clips then push forward, and take careful note of how they fit. Then pop them out with a screw driver tilt the washer body forward at 45 degree angel and walk forward with the body, and set it down. Now you will see the white pump and motor assembly. You should see two clips holding the pump to the motor pop them off, and pull the pump off the motor shaft. Now if you fell the need to remove the pump use the radiator hose clamp. take them and clamp the hose coming from the tub but its not necessary for the repair. Next disconnect the wiring harness from the motor (note the position of the harness for reassembly). Remove the two 5/16 inch screws from the motor clamps and pop the clamps off. Once that is complete, remove the motor put the new coupling on the motor and transmission shaft. I use a socket and a hammer

SOURCE: burning smell during spin cycle on frigidaire washing machine

Open lid as you would load clothes and hold the inner drum with all the holes in it. Give it a manual turn left, then right. If it spins in both ways the main bearing is gone. This is not a DIY because the new bearing has to be pressed on at a machine shop, or an appliance repair shop.

While spinning, it made a loud noise but finished washing the load while continuing to make the noise especially while spinning fast.

Hi Chantal,
In my many years repairing Miele machines - the most common problem for what you are describing is the underwire from a bra has got in between the inner and outer drum. It's tricky to get out and can be done if you are good with tools and a little technical - but it does involve opening up the machine, removing one of the heating ellements and searching / fishing it out. Another less common reason for this rubbing noise could be the metal heater element bracket that also sits between the inner & outer drum, has bent - but this is normally caused by a bra underwire. Hope this helps.

When not in use Miele washing machine tapping noise

Hi.
I need more info from you.
What model is this machine? How old is it?
It is possible that the sound comes from the water dispenser valve selector. If you could give me more info about your Miele machine, it would be helpfull.

MIELE W412 PREWASH INDICATOR FLASHING

If your PreWash is flashing then you have a pressure problem. You can dry using a washer machine cleaner or doing a hot cycle with white vinegar. If that doesn't help the electronic would have to be changed.
