Have you checked the drive belt and the motor brushes? Also checknifnthere is voltage getting to the motor. Does then drum fill with water, and carry out the wash cycle fully but without the drum moving? If so it is likely to be either the motor, brushes, belt or relay pcb

The latch may just be stuck. Try pressing in on the door at or near the latch point and start then pause / cancel a cycle (while still pressing inward).
if that fails, put the washer through a spin/drain only cycle and let it run through( no need to press on the door).
If you are still unable to unlock the door you will have to call for service.

If you open the top of the washer , there is a "tech" sheet in there to tell you how to reset the error codes.
My washer started this. Then stopped spinning. Now it will not even wash a load. It stops mid-cycle. The ER 20 means that something is not draining right. We checked all of the tubes leading to the pump. Nothing was clogged. The technition seems to think it is a motor controller error.

It could be multiple problems, if so it's more than one of the below, it would be cheaper to buy a new unit.
Start by removing the front panel and check the belt and idler pulley/tensioner. Look for wear in both and make sure there isn't too much play (it should only move about a 1/2 inch when pushed on it's longest stretch. While you have the front open, inspect the pulley for damage or excessive play.
Another cause could be the transmission (it's just above the pulley). Look for fluid/oil leaks and/or rust. A bad oil leak can cause the transmission to seize up. If you notice rust accumulated on the transmission assembly, you probably have a bad seal. Water could have gotten in there causing it to fail. A damaged transmission needs to be replaced, repair parts are not available.
The cycling problem sounds like a faulty timer. Test it by advancing the dial and make sure the correct cycles are starting/stopping. This part can be replaced with a few simple tools.
As always, make sure you disconnect the power before doing any service.

Tou should be able to just pull it straight up. If not, remove the top cap and remove the nut, then lift it out.
