Which brand of television do you have? probably a factory reset will help. Also try to replace the batteries if you didn't do that yet.

SOURCE: TV freezes when switching to a digital channel

The problem your describing can be contributed to your cable box. Depending on your cable company there are times when the box has trouble translating the signal to the tv. You tv is operating normally. Suggest to the cable company to switch your box.

Toshiba tv 40rv525u has started to change channels

My TV 40RV525U changing channels, menus itself for few months ( I use antenna).
my son tried to stop the channel scrolling by enter weird number into the channel to stop it scrolling such as 555, 777..
later, it turn on off by itself and unable to hold on a channel
I call Toshiba customer service and they ask money $25 for troubleshooting but I denied since I do not want to waste money and time.

Now, I found how to fix it myself.

In my case, something was wrong with the signal comes from the button control on the left side of the TV.
========================
What I did
========================
unplug the power cord.
Remove back cover.
Look into the motherboard ( biggest green at the center).

First, I disconnect a connector on the motherboard come from the IR board that receive the wireless signal control ( meaning the remote is disable).
I turn on the TV, press on Menu button on the TV side. Menu is still scrolling.

I turn off TV, disconnect power cord and connect the IR connector back to the motherboard.
I then disconnect the nearby connector that comes from the side control buttons.

Turn on the TV by remote, press menu button on the remote to check. The menu stays.

DONE.

I use electric tape to seal off the connector and let it hanging there.
Close the TV back panel

I have been watching TV for 3 nights without menus/channels scrolling.
NO AVAILABLE red message when watching DVD is no longer existed.

Hope this help someone else.

Toshiba 40rv525r screen says NOT AVAILABLE

I've had the same issue! This is caused by the control panel telling the TV what to do - does it change channels on its own, too, or turn off or on on its own?

What you need to do (if you've not already done it) is lock the control panel out, which you can do under the LOCK menu.

What may help is running the factory reset on page 54.

After short warmup period remote control will not change channels or display TV Programme guide. Unit must be switched off and then back on for remote control to operate properly. Problem repeats after a...

Easiest things to check first:
Are your remote controls working: check batteries; check infrared on remotes by viewing with camera phone/camcorder; make sure your remotes are programmed properly for the device.

Another option: do a hard reset of your TV-unplug it and let it sit as indicated in the manual; then turn it back on.

Another option: unplug the TV and use an air-can and thoroughly dust ALL the component input/output access points on the TV. Turn the TV on and see if this works.

Another option: unplug the TV and connect standard 1/8" headphones in the output of the remote OR headphone jack on the TV [try both]. Turn the TV on and see if this helps.

Finally, if these steps do not work: unplug the TV and let it sit for a good hour. Open up the back panel carefully and air dust the remote control sensor. If this does not work, change the remote control sensor.

Hope this helps.

Panasonic plasma won't change channel or volume

Also had the same problem with our Panasonic 50" Plasma...could not change the channel or the volume (with the remote control nor with the actual TV controls). Before I called for repair, I UNPLUGGED the TV and then plugged it back after a minute. I was surprised....the TV started working again. (Switching the TV on and off is not sufficient). I could change channels and volume, etc. So this saved me a repair this time. Might be worth trying this solution. Wouldn't hurt one bit, but rather save you a repair fee.

TV freezes up when turned to channel 33-1

I had the same problem. I also use rabbit ear antenna , no cable or satellite. I was watching ch. 33.1 and the tv turned off by itself. The remote wouldn't work. The power on/off buttons on the side of the tv wouldn't work. I had to un-plug the power cord to turn the tv off. The tv forze on ch. 33.1 when I turned it back on.

I called Vizio, they told me they received hundreds of complaints from people in Texas complain g about these problems.

I was told to un-plug the antenna cable and re-plug it. I did this plus I re-scanned all channels. The problem has been solved, the channel (33.1) no longer freezes and the tv doesn't turn off by itself.

Hope this helps.

Thanks but i need more help

Don't be panic.
Check the batteries of your remotes control. FIRST
Be sure to aim the control to the sensor of your tv.

Usually you have one remote for your tv and the other to control the cable box or digital box.

You have to set the RMC10 again using the code of your tv Silvania (like the first time)
Then set your tv on channel 3

Another thing, be sure that you are hitting the right buttons.
The control doesn't work if you hit on the top any key instead of cable
What i mean?

The remote has on the top 4 key usually (tv, cable, vcr, aux, etc).
You must hit first cable to set the control to cable

1, Manually turn on the device(TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.
2. Press and hold the code search button until the red indicator stays on, then release the code search button.
3. Press and quickly release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, ect.). The red indicator blinks off once.
4. Press the Channel up button repeatedly(up to 300 times) until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks off with each button press. If you accidentally overshoot the code required, press channel down button to backtrack through the library until device changes channel. Pressing Channel up changes direction forward again.
5. Press and release Mute to install code.

My remote is not responding to the tv even i have changed the new baterry

Resetting the TV
If the buttons on the remote AND the buttons on the TV case do not work (channels do not change and you cannot open or navigate the menu), the TV has stopped responding. Reset the TV as follows:

NOTE:
Some TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time.

2. Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...)
3. Press and hold the TV power button for five seconds.
4. Plug the TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV.
5. Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the TV is responding again.
6. Turn off the TV and reconnect the devices.
7. Turn on the TV.
