Did you make sure that you filled in the correct email address? This has to be filled in completely. If you didn't register for their service yet, then do so first before you can use it.

On the log-in page for you email provider there is a link that says "forgot your password?" Click in it and they will email you a temporary password so that you can log in and change it.
a password doesn't have to be diffucult, or even make since. but writing it down & keeping it safe is a very good idea.. if the problem with the email persists contact gmail customer & ask them about it, they may have a simple solution
