Can you locate the motor?

See parts manual at link below. It doesn't show exactly where the cap is mounted but you should be able to follow leads from the motor to capacitor.

I have worked on these, Most likely a sheared key. Doesn't hurt to check bearings and replace seals while you are there.

SOURCE: bought Hobart D300-T at auction

Try some carb cleaner behind the bowl arm. Your arm might be frozen on the slides or the ecentric on the handle is broken. But chances are it needs more work as well. If you want to sell it contact us at machinerysurplus at yahoo.com

SOURCE: problem with the 3rd gear on Hobart D300

Hobart won't give up service manuals The slide for your shift fork may be froze or corroded at top. The gear setups are fairly simple. The mainshaft nut comes off counterclockwise. The top gear has one way rollers with shims under the large washer. This gear assy must go back in the right way or you will break gears as soon as you start it.These mixers corode a lot at the top gearbox when they sit idle from moisture. Also check for broken gear teeth that may be jaming up he works. If you want to sell it let us know.

SOURCE: oil leaking from hobart d300 mixer

DEFINITELY contact the manufacturer (Hobart) on that one. Sounds like you're having some sort of an internal problem with it (something might be cracked), and in this situation, the best way to go is to contact the manufacturer rather than try to repair it yourself. If you're still under warranty, and you try to open the machine up to fix it yourself, you could wind up VOIDING the warranty, and if you're out of warranty, most repair places won't touch a machine that you've messed with already--too much of a liability.

Just give Hobart a call, and they should be able to help you (if you're in warranty, sometimes even for free!). Their phone number (according to their website, www.hobartcorp.com ) is 1-888-4HOBART (1-888-446-2278)

Good luck! :)

It uses grease which breaks down over time. The transmission has to opened up and all of the old lube removed and replaced with fresh lube and the bottom seal replaced. Contact your local Hobart office. www.hobartservice.com to locate your local office.

New bowl & hook hobart d300

There is a website called onesharpstore.com, It carries parts for the hobart 30 quart mixer. I specifically saw the bowl and hook attachments as well as others like beaters and a cheese and vegetable grater. Hope this helps. And if you sign up I think you can even request a full catalog for your machine.
