It is normal for there to water above the sump area on that model
dishwasher. How this unit works is...the timer send voltage to the drain
solenoid for a short period of time, then disconnects the power. The water
pressure that is created by the pump is what **keeps** the drain valve open,
until the water pressure/volume is low enough for the drain valve spring to
overcome and the valve closes. I assume that you have cleaned the air gap
out?

You probably have a restricted water inlet valve. It is not allowing the proper rate of flow for the allotted time, therefore not giving enough water to create the proper velocity to reach the top rack.

SOURCE: dishwasher

GE 720 Potscrubber I started with the water puddling in bottom now it progressed to leaking on the floor. I had a repair guy come to my home yesterday and he says a broken seal and my total cost to replace seal and labor is $165 plus tax.
What is the life expectancy? He did not sound too promising about the future of my dishwasher and said he is certain there will be another repair need shortly something related to the water saturating an area underneath the dishwasher?
He reccomended I call Sears and replace with a Whirlpool product. He claimed he put his kids thru college repairing GE products. My husband wants to repair and I dont because of fear of spending more money!

SOURCE: Potscrubber 900 Dishwasher won't drain

HI. check the following areas for faults.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

SOURCE: ge potscrubber dishwasher will not

Had the same problem with my dishwasher. Took it appart thinking that something was plugging the drain but there wasn't anything. Turns out the cylinoid that has the hook coming out of it to control the flap for the ejection of the water is broken. When looking at your pump, you should see a small flapper valve on the exterior of the pump hooked up to a small cylinoid that when accivated flips a flap in the pump to eject the water out of it instead of letting it circulate in the unit. This is an easy part to replace, but for me, hard to find since my potscrubber is so old. Hopefully your units are newer and you can find this part at your local appliance shop.

How do you remove the sprayer arm from a GE potscrubber 600

Thought I had a problem with the spray arm or pump because water was not flowing enough to spray the upper rack. But it turned out it was a simple part missing: the "check valve" that is in the lower neck of the spray arm assembly. It's a $10 part. Part #WD1X5488 for GE Potscrubber 600.

Is water suppose to stay in the sump pump of a ge potscrubber dishwasher. The water drains except in the very bottom where I guess the pump is. There is lots of mildew and I have lots of grit on my...

Yes water does stay in the sump all the time. This is normal.

Try running a cycle with a cup of Vinegar or Baking Soda in the dishwasher.

Also check to make sure that your drain line (under the sink) is higher than the sink drain and not allowing some sink drain seepage back into the dishwasher.
