it is extremely unlikely that clothes have got to the position you mentioned
unbalance comes from
1--- clothes out of balance in the tub--too much on one side
2--machine not level on the floor --- rubber feet missing from adjuster bolts
3-- suspension rods and insulators for the tub broken or missing
these suspension rubbers/ plastics break on a regular basis and allow the tub to sit at an unlevel state causing an unbalance situation when spinning
top covers are either held in place with screws at the front and back ( under plastic trim buttons ) or simply clip on to the side walls at the top
talk with a service agent as to how to remove the top or download a workshop manual for the machine from the net

F51 error code is a motor rotor position sensor failure or a lower harness problem. You need to check the motor in manual test mode, not automatic test mode. well the code means that the tachometer or Rps sensor has detected a spinning problem but i would first push in the top clips on the right and left front corners about an inch in on the front and hinge back top lid remove top plastic cap ring of washer and check for stuck clothing between innertub and outer tub sometimes you will have to remove tub to get all clothes out remove center dome agitator center cap and remove 7/16 bolt pull agitator out the pull inner tub out then extract clothes be very carefull these stainless tubs are very sharp and will cut your hand like a cheese grader

Grab hold of the inner basket & pull up & down. Does it move up & down? If not clothing is stuck between the inner & outer basket. Tilt the unit back & use a flash light & shine it through the clear plastic & see if you see clothes in it.

I work for an appliance repair company and I had a recent service call for the same exact situation on this washer. I also know that Rotary Position Sensor is linked to the F-51 error code. I have found that this is not always the case. On this paticular call the F-51 error code was caused by a piece of clothing (sock, wash cloth, etc.) being stuck or jammed between the internal basket and the outer tub. I removed the cloth and the washer ran fine, so give that a check first before you spend the money.
