The colder the internal temperature, the greater the likelihood of condensation on the external surfaces under humid conditions. Generally harmless. Check the insulation around the door. If it is failing, there may not be an economical fix.

Why is my chest freezer freezing on the outside of the cabinet and causing a lot of condensation

Usually because the insulation between the walls has broken down, or if it is stored in a garage, mice have got in there and removed the foam to build a nest. You need a new one.

Is the freezer being outside causing motor problems

Hello Donna F - Typically freezers are not recommended to be located outside because if the garage temperature is above 100 degrees, it will have difficulties performing optimally due to un-circulating air. Some manufacturers have garage kit design to help with this issue. It is design to solely be used during the winter to provide heat to the coils which trigger the compressor to come on. During the summer months, generally it is not needed.

Drain tube and floor of uprite freezer is plugged with ice. Have previously thawed with a heat gun and it freezes up again in a week or two. The freezer is in our south facing garage, one car parks...

I bet you don't have that problem in the summer,It is freezing cause of the outside air in the garage gets below freezing. For a quick fix install a heater wire they make them for gutters and plumbing and just run it down the length of the tube and that will do it,short of heating your garage or insulating it

Kenmore 253 9280413 freezer keeps running

The coils are embedded in the outer walls and will make the cabinet feel warm outside when the compressor is running. It needs about 4 inches of clear air space around all the outer case walls to properly get rid of its heat. If you have items stored too close to the outer walls they will act as insulation to keep heat from being dissipated. This can cause long run times.

A unit that has lost freon gas due to leakage, while unlikely, can also extend run times. Normal temperature should be about Zero when the dial is set to halfway.

Good Luck

Does the light on the outside of freezer stay on . I bought a used freezer. It is a frigidaire commercial upright (frost free) Does the light on outside of freezer stay on all the time? I have no manual....

Normally there is a Green light showing that power is on

A Yellow one for fast freeze and a Red one for under temperature

The outer casing is well insulated from the inside otherwise the freezer motor would run none stop without cooling the contents so the temperature of the outside casing will reflect the room temperature not the intenal
