I got a used Krups XP2070 without knowing the condition. The espresso part works perfectly and after some googling I found out the manual is actually wrong about how to use the steamer (you have to press the valid button instead of pressing the steam button twice). Anyway despite this the steam does not come out of the wand. I thoroughly cleaned the external wand and unscrewed the wand from the machine to make sure nothing was jammed up. I'm guessing it's not routing the steam properly to the wand and is bypassing it to the filter?

jejones is right. try a coarser grind. it still makes great espresso, especially if you really pack a lot of ground coffee into the filter basket. Just make sure it is a bit coarser than you would normally use for machines without the dual wall filter basket.

you both can have same problem, solution is:

Sounds like a clogged steam pipe or a jammed two-way valve. First, I would try unfolding a small paper clip and then stick it up the spout of the steam pipe. if this does not free up the steaming arm then it is most likely a clogged two way valve. This will most likely happen when the pressure valves become defective. Replacing the two valves (they come in pairs) should fix the problem.

The unit has two pressure valves that control release to the drip tray. Once they fail the hot water will go directly to the drip tray when the pressure goes up. The fix will be to replace the pressure valves (pair in series) which only cost about $20. I replaced mine and it fixed the problem. Good luck and happy espressos.
