Maytag bravos mtw6600T won't spin. Tries to but makes a really loud grinding noise. Sounds like the gears grinding together then nothing happens.

Sadly, this sounds like a bad transmission in the washer. Unless it is a newer, high-end washer, fixing it is probably not going to be cost effective. IMNSHO, based on experience, once a major breakdown like this occurs in an appliance, other major failures aren't usually far behind. If it isn't still under warranty, get a new one :/

SOURCE: My Capacity Plus Admiral Washer will spin and agitate, but it makes a loud grinding noise.

Well, Sounds to me like the Bearings are going out, but it could make that noise a good while, before it goes completely out.. Replacement would possably be more cost effective, Kinda hard to beleive !!!!!!

SOURCE: Maytag Washer HAV2558AWW loud noise during spin cycle

Your maytag is really an amana and the bearings are bad. Yes it does cost a lot. If i were you i would buy another washer. Get a whirlpool. (whirlpool now owns maytag)

SOURCE: Coffee Grinder on the EAM3500

We just went through the same situation. We opened the top the Magnifica to get to the grinder and removed the four screws to seperate the grinding pieces. Inside we discovered two black fosilized beans/stones! We removed those, cleaned out all the bean dust and it is working like new! Took about an hour.

SOURCE: Maytag washer makes loud grinding noise during the spin cycle

if it's making a noise then either your drain pump bearing is going out or your thrust bearing is going out (assuming the noise happens in both spin and wash). Tip the washer backwards so that you can get underneath of it. Take the belt off and spin the pump pulley on the right side. This should spin effortlessly.

The middle pulley is the trustbearing pulley. Spin this--- one direction it should have a little bit of resistance--- the other should have more resistance

Noisy spin cycle and stuck on high

Spin solenoid could have water leaking onto it and it stuck on , but noise is most likely caused by bearing getting water into them, dose it leek water on the floor?

Machine filled with water then just began beeping. Never started to wash the clothes. When turned off and then on again, it makes a buzzing noise and nothing happens.

If your buzzing noise stops after a few seconds, it could be the motor failing to start. If it sounds like a signal buzzer, it could be indicating the lid open, or a failed lid switch.

Does the sound shield on tha maytag bravos washer really help to reduce noise. The person who came to install the washer said i didn't need it and didn't put it on, but now i feel he should have because...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

You are really answering your question yourself ;-0)
Have it put on- it's obviously been designed to cut down the noise and the installer was wrong not to fit it.

My washer is making a rattling noise as if the water is not leaving the machine. I checked the hose...nothing....now my washer has water in it

does your washer spins?. the most common cause would be a sock caught in the pump blocking the water drain and making noise with the pump impeller.
