I've tried to unscrew the front plastic fascia but I can't unscrew it with just my fingers and there are no notches for a lens wrench type tool. Anyone got a solution?

yes remove one bolts where caliper bolts to the slide assembly older models had allen heads

the allen wrench bolts should be the correct bolts to remove brake caliper to allow access to pads.
hint: there will be only two bolts to remove and they will be the same maybe different lengths

going by your question i`d say you don`t have the ability to perform this job yourself.to just adjust the front end alignment you don`t need to remove any components.you do need an alignment machine to get the angles set to specs, there are 3 angles that need to be checked, castor camber and toe-in otherwise your tires will wear and the car won`t go down the road straight.

Might want to get it all buttoned back up and head to a shop. Maybe even call first. Ask if they can use an impact gun to break it loose for you and hand tighten it so you can get back home. A good mechanic should even have tools that will grip a rounded bolt head.
This is a type of good friendly service I would provide to people (until they abused my kindness and mistook it for weakness).
