There are three buttons on the back of the right side of the TV (as you face the set). The center button is the Power button. Press and release the button to turn on the set. Press and hold to turn it off. For a picture of these buttons, see page 7 of the Reference Manual available on the Sony product support site: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-65x750f#manuals . My fd trintron wega (kd-0xs955) will sound as if it is starting of when POWER is pressed then the red stand by blinks a few times and nothing else when it is just plugged into the wall (no cable connected)

The flashing light is "Code" for diagnostics. Count the flashes before it pauses. Some Sony user manuals will have the answer in the troubleshooting section of the manual. If you don't have your manual,

My sony kdf-42we655 has 7 flashing red blinks. please help.

Audio Protect (7 Flash): When DC voltage is detected at the speaker or
woofer outputs, IC3604/pin128 (TV-micro) goes low and IC3604 turns off
the main power (AC relay turns OFF).
Troubleshooting Tips:
1) Main cause of defective will be located on the KD-board
2) Confi rm KD-board is securely seated on the G2-board
3) Replace KD-board
